sbcglobal.net uses yahoo servers, so my question:
sbcglobal.net paying customers - are they at risk?
All this nonsense Yahoo scare story.....out of the thousands of companies that have been hacked including Governments, security services, banks to name just a few.....don't tell me that all their clients have removed their accounts.....do me a favour, absolutely not.
I personally still retain my Yahoo e-mail account along with others......simple answer....change Password.
How many members in this forum with a Yahoo e-mail account have been personally affected by being hacked.....none I warrant.
I sometimes wonder if these scaremongers have nothing better to do with their lives.
I had few attempts at taking over my account but killed it soon after. My friend's account suddenly started filling up with hundreds of junk mail and notifications of site memberships. He's not very good with computers so that may be partly his fault but also because of that he doesn't get far on internet either. He's also used to using ymail and it's difficult to teach him to use any other. Login name and password are very complicated so possibility of brute force attack is very small. Even after password changes, old spam is still coming in large numbers so every couple of weeks I have to go thru his mail and delete tons of stuff. Once that starts it's next to impossible to stop. There's also increasing number of adds Yahoo places in his mail which is used live from browser exclusively, no clients involved.
Yahoo is also in bad financial trouble ever since attempted MS takeover and it's just matter of time till they go under and that's probably going to strand many.
