Agreed, Jeff, and I'd bet we'll get an embedded Product Key with the activation. In the BIOS? I don't think even Microsoft can get to the BIOS to change it?
I'm not sure they can but I know that they will supply an activated OS for insiders. A minor change of language will not change this one bit. How it's done is irrelevant. And when we can get the ISO we will need some way to activate that when we do a clean install.

Cyber, the first post by Brink (#1) in this thread gives us an official Microsoft document.

Nope to many different BIOS CMOS companies/software versions.
So true.. they will have to supply some key to allow activation for the ISO we will be able to get after the upgrade.

Maybe they can do it with (I'm not sure if it's called this but) unattended installation(Unattended installation is an automated installation technology)

Sorry Bunny, but no. Insider will not get the option to leave the Preview Program (unless they supply a 7/8.1 key).IF they do not supply a key, Final will only be activated for 3 months or so, like the other flights. The meaning DID change. Final's just another flight with a 3 month activation period, and there will be no option to leave the program without supplying a 7/8.1 key or formatting.

PS: the leaked builds that have an option to stop receiving flights ARE NOT indicative of what MS will release to the Insider Program. MS can (probably will) remove that option.

Where did you read that it would be for only 3 months?? From the OP and MS website it doesn't mention that.

Cyber, the first post by Brink (#1) in this thread gives us an official Microsoft document. Within that document, we're told that all Insiders who are using their registered Microsoft account will be updated to Windows 10 as if it were just another build.
And I expect that to happen; I just expect the upgrade to have a limited shelf life and not a fully activated version. Microsoft has been ambiguous and unclear about what insiders can expect throughout and that appears to be continuing.

This. I'm sure at some point MS was planning on saying "lol format or gtfo" like they did for 7/8, so the source of the ambiguity is that they recently decided to keep it open and aren't sure where to go next.

But yes, limited shelf life was what I was referring to. 10130 expires in Oct 2015, for example.

HUH?? I think you got this wrong.. the upgrade will be free with no strings attached like you saying/implying.
