I'd still like to hear Cortana speak to me. I haven't had any luck with that since the very early 9000 series builds. Ever since it the 100xx builds Cortana hasn't said a peep to me. Frustrating. Realtek audio on an Asus mobo, btw.
Same here. Realtek on a Gigabyte mobo.

For those having the message about the insider builds needing attention, have you gone into Settings, and click the "fix it" button? I had the same thing, and after a reboot everything was fine. However, you must be on a Microsoft Account based on what recent announcements from MS have said. Insider Previews going forward will be tied to your MSA.

Found the issue with the download folder shortcut.

I got these messages some days after I disabled the Windows Update service.
Guess it happens when a new update/build is available but the system is unable to push it due to intentionally or unintentionally reconfiguring services that are needed to deliver the updates...

Same here. Realtek on an ASUS Z87-K motherboard with latest drivers (7541 Beta).

This is my particular case. I'm from Spain, but although I always use a MSA, install the EN-US version and set the system language and Location to English US, I, for the life of me, not only can I not make Cortana talk to me, but I can't talk to her either. I plug in my mic, set it up, enable Cortana and when I click on the Mic icon in the Search bar on Taskbar, I always get the same message "Sorry, speech failed to start. Try again later"

"Hey Cortana" works for me, but then she just freezes up.

Thanks for that observation - very interesting (and perhaps not odd at all).

I've got a theory on how activation will work, and I think what you've seen does fit in.
I'm not entirely sure that's the whole thing. I decided to do a clean install to my laptop, that has never had Windows 10 on it. After installation was over, it was already activated. Maybe this new version has a key embedded that just wasn't active yet, and MS has made this key active now.. I don't know..

Similar here. I performed a second clean installation on another partition and it asked for the key twice, once at install and once at setup; I clicked on 'Skip' and 'Do this later' respectively, however, when all was done and I went into settings to activate it, it was already activated.

Fair enough - thanks for clarifying.

This is the first build that Cortana actually works for me. I did have a few glitches were it stopped working. I logged off and back on and Cortana work again. I did get it to start a couple of apps. Mostly it brings up a web search.
