Hi,

Cheers,
After this update, I can't open the Start Menu, or the Action Center, or Cortana...
I restarted explorer.exe, restarted my PC, but still not working
Someone cares to test if this can disable the UUP and gives normal 14981 esd on 14971 ?
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsUpdate]
"SupportsUUP"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WindowsUpdate\Orchestrator]
"EnableUUPScan"=dword:00000000
Good catch - seems to confirm my supposition, then.
Odd. I have 0 issues after the upgrade. Have you tried rolling back and then try upgrading again?
I have my laptop which is waiting to update. I can try it on there and see if it makes a difference, but the files have already been downloaded. I might need to delete the .~BT folder contents .. and maybe SoftwareDistribution/Downloads.
If I get a chance I will try to clean install 14971 on the laptop and immediately disable those keys before it gets a chance to check for updates....
Or, perhaps, try it in a VM.
Got my chance! Got a message asking was I gonna recommend this Build to others:
I told lthem:
I know it may not do any good, but I said it anyway!The update ran quickly; 20 minutes from Restart.
However, I am very upset that we no longer have access to install.esd, as I and a large number of TenForums.com users create our own ISOs to have just in case things go South on us and we need to clean install the current Build.
This is a definite step backward for Microsoft.
