I can honestly say I've not seen any ads on Windows 10 since I started using it in September 2014. This thread came as a surprise to me.
I have everything turned off that might cause a ad to popup. The only ads I get is on some free apps I installed. AccuWeather - Weather for Life is one of them.
Do you have any sources? Googling for free Windows 10 only brings up the assistive devices loophole.
And still, a license for the latest version of Windows 10 is and has always been included in the cost of your new computer. The license is free to the manufacturer if the device has a screen size of 9" or less, but there is no increase in the number of ads. Microsoft will not be making Windows 10 free to system builders and will charge for all future upgrades (unless you use the loophole), so i'm not entirely sure how you're planning to get this "Free Windows"
And are you mixing up ads and suggestions? There's a really big difference between the two. but even then, suggestions are so rare that i can't even recall one to use as an example.
just keep googling cause once or shortly after Microsoft goes to windows as a service they WILL be doing this. as for a licensed copy coming with your pc EVERYONE knows that since at least 95 manufactures have been including a licensed copy. i personally WILL NOT be going for the free version when it IS available. i'm not mixing anything up, but you are being an A** and need to not comment on my post again.
Well. not all computers come with windows of any kind. Then there are so many home built computers, made by order etc.
I don't know where all the stories about MS selling "Windows as a service" are coming from, probably because of W10 as a service but with completely different meaning, service as constant upgrades, not as in charging yearly rates. That's all MS 'fessed to.
Even if it did happen I fail to see what it has to do with forced advertising, they could do it in either case if they wanted to.
Anybody remembers Windows with Bing" ? I don't think they are going to try that again soon.
The first thing I do after a clean install is removing/disabling the content of Cortana, keeping very little: Calculator, photo, weather and search Windows only. Also, I’m disabling about 90% of switches in settings and 100% in the installer.
From build 10074 up to the actual one, I have never seen any publicity from MS. Be advised that the day I would see one, I would take good care of it in regedit or asking you guys how to proceed.
Submitted respectfully,
MY pc is made to order and they inserted win 10 during construction. Bing was always, after upgrades, a darn default. I went into search engines and dleted all bar google. MS - its MY pc, I decide ok??
