I had that same error, but after using Malwarebites. I did the update, did the sfc /scannow as alway do when updating, and found nothing.
Then, I installed Malwarebytes, because since a year ago, I never used any anti malware software (other than Eset Smart Security as my antivirus). Once I did an analysis, I did again the sfc /scannnow, and it showed an error that coudln't be repaired. Then I went for the DISM solution, and nothing worked. My only solution was todo an in place upgrade, keeping all my programs and personal files. That solved everything.
So, note to myself: don't do any experiment. I knew, due to my experience, that cleaners use to mess with everything, and now I know some other ant malware programs, can mess with everything too.
My way to go: antivirus and common sense. Other than that, let Windows self-manage itself. It just works.
