Annoying, Control Panel always defaults to Category View. Every time I use it I change to Small Icons View, do what I came to do, close it, and next time when opened it's Category View again.

Small icons stays, if selected, here. Opened, closed and opened again.

    Hello @Kari, :)

If you like, you can use an option in the tutorial below to set a default view for the Control Panel to always open with by default.

I don't know how this post started out for you, Marty, but it's so run together that I don't think anyone can make any sort of sense of it.

You may want to start over.
I don't think anyone would bother scrolling though that jungle of syntax.

Thanks for that information, it made me think what might explain this. I think I found the reason for this behaviour.

    OK, that partially works. Thanks.

I think the culprit is and was the Clover shell for File Explorer I use. If so, the benefits of Clover (tabbing, favourites) outweigh this small annoying detail.

Using the Group Policy option from your tut it now sticks using small icons opening Control Panel in any other way, but opening it from File Explorer address bar (see screenshot) it always defaults to Group View.
