I don't do anything when I download and get the new build ready for instillation. What I do is just let it do it's thing and when it's ready to restart I copy the ESD over to my separate drive and perform the update.
I do exactly as you do but recently I forgot and when I needed the install.esd file, it had been deleted.

Wouldn't life be easier if MS simply produced isos each time they did a Fast Ring build upgrade?

    Why?
They want to test the upgrade process, not the clean install process.
I only clean installed after RTM, and since then only upgraded since, with no problems.
In fact, I find, after reading all the posts of clean installs, I am better off that way, as my driver certificates remain unaffected since they tightened down the screws(Magician for example)

This one laptop boots up really slow. I get a light blue screen and theCursor just goes round and round. Looks like another 42 with all the issues I had.

    It's set for fast boot.

I have watermarks on this laptop but one of my Desktop has none.

Watermark font colour is white, obviously it is shown but can't be seen if desktop background image's bottom right colour is white.
White on white would make it hard to see. :)

I was on another forum when the build downloaded on my computer. I didn't even know until I got the your computer need to be restarted message. Caught me by surprise. :)

This build downloaded really fast on my Lumia 640XL. I'm not sure how long it took on my desktop. It downloaded in the background without me knowing. I gave up trying to download build 14946 on my phone. It took hours and never got past 95%.
