Windows Essentials 2012 will reach end of support on January 10th 2017

You won’t be able to download Windows Essentials after January 10, 2017.

Windows Essentials 2012 is a suite of free programs that can help you organize and edit photos and videos, manage email, create blog posts, and keep your files in sync. You can choose which programs you want to install or you can install all of them. Windows Essentials 2012 works with Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. Windows Essentials includes the following programs:

    • Photo Gallery. Everything you need to organize, edit, and publish your photos.
    • Movie Maker. Tell your story in style. Make a polished movie from your photos and videos in just a few clicks.
    • Windows Live Writer. Create stunning blog posts in minutes, with photos, videos, maps, and more. Then publish them to any of your favorite blog service providers.
    • Windows Live Mail. Manage multiple email accounts, calendars, and your contacts, even when you're offline.
    • OneDrive. With OneDrive installed on all your computers, you can get to the latest version of your files wherever you are.

George Harrison sung it best(get over it, old software for older technology), although.... On windows 7 I loved the WE:

Will Windows Essentials 2012 still be available for download?
Windows Essentials 2012 suite will be available*for download until it reaches its end of support date*on January 10, 2017.

What happens to my already installed Windows Essentials 2012 applications?
Already installed applications will continue to work as they do today. There is an increased security risk associated with use of unsupported products past their end of support date.
For those who can't live without it, you should download the installer and keep it in a very safe place.

You have to have it installed before support ends.

I was always wondering why microsoft didn't continue the support for windows live essentials. Especially the writer app, it was a great tool to post to wordpress websites and made it so simple.

"Open Live Writer" - a fork of Windows Live Writer managed by MS volunteers:

I deleted my 2012 essentials about 6 months ago. Missed the Mail feature of being able to read newsgroups. Did the download again, nice to see that you can pick and choose what program(s) you want to install. I just chose Mail and went to newsgroups, and low and behold, picked up right where I left off, about 300+ msgs behind. Tried to use the Google newsreader, it is a mess and only contains a small portion of the messages out there.

Downloading the web installer is little use I'm afraid, what you really need is an offline installer - and here it is, all 130MB of it...

Glad to help. It's Movie Maker I would miss. What's the betting that the promised Store App to replace it won't be able to use 2012's project files? (like 2012 can't use the XP version's ones)
