I was dual booting Atari1040St years ago. It had an adapter under the processor that held Macintosh BIOS chip.

Did that also use the PowerPC CPU? My MacBook Pro of 2010 has an Intel i7 CPU running El Capitan but is now upgrading to Sierra.

That was in 1985 and it used Motorola 68000's 16-bit external bus and 32-bit internals processor as did Apple at that time. It also needed Apple OS 1.44MB diskette to work.
A DOS emulator worked within Atari TOS (Tramiel Operating System). It was faster than full fledged 286.

Right, Motorola and Apple plus another company were involved with the PowerPC.
