I have no idea, but could it have something to do with keeping settings, programs and "customizations" on the upgrade. I mean it is basically the same as an inplace upgrade or also called repair install.
Maybe they need to fix some switches in the answer file???

Alls I gotta say is that at least they didn't break something this time around!

FWIW, having been told some time back that Control Panel will go away, I've been trying to go with Settings when I could. I'm slowly learning how to navigate settings and it's not so bad after all.

Could be, but this is inconsistent with goal to get rid of control panel.

It seems to me best option would be to have both giving advanced warning that you need to back up your "customisations" (I'm a Brit - LOL) as in time intent is to remove system32/CP links

It just seems half baked at the moment as the items we are referring to though, are not really items you would customise anyway?

And when has Microsoft ever been consistent?

By the way the desktop toolbar still has the control panel in all it's glory:

You're welcome Wynona, I have been using the taskbar desktop toolbar since Windows 7 came out. with it you can find everything, I mean EVERYTHING on your system, by using the cascading menu, and only opening File Explorer by clicking what you want when you find it.

Does anybody else have problems with start menu rearranging? It started for me in previous build. Every time I restarted PC, start menu is arranged in two columns.
Changing it in single column last only until next start.

Can't say it happened to me and I have quite large number of APPs and programs pinned. But on the other hand, sfc /scannow goes thru without a hitch.

I'm still trying to figure out how to get 2 columns without having tiles. I can widen the Start Menu window, but the left column doesn't split into 2.
