Following download completion and reboot, I received a blue screen, then rebooted and all seems (keep fingers crossed) fine.

My .321 took about 1 hour to download. It stopped at several places. The first pause was so long that I thought the download had hung. After that I just waited for the download to start up after the pauses began. Everything seems to be running fine.

First KB update that couldn't install for me since I started Windows 10: "we couldn't complete the updates, undoing changes". Tried it thrice and each time I attempted various changes to see if it would resolve the issue, but all failed. No errors after checking sfc /scannow and no problems with the other updates today, just KB3194798 .

I have been observing the Network activity .. and i noticed a weird or funny thing..

Windows update seems to work (download) even without any sign of activity in the network activity tab

could be a bug in windows 10 or something.. please share your thoughts about it

and yes, it's quite a trick to leave 3.99 TB of stuff to clean up on a 500 GB drive. Serious compression!
    Attachment 105501

It's not a real 3.99TB, it's an illusion caused by hard links (NTFS entries that allow multiple directory listings of a single physical copy of a file). These are frequently used in WinSxS to avoid having multiple copies of the same file when it is a part of several updates.

A hard link is a file system object that lets two files refer to the same location on disk. Some tools, such as the File Explorer, determine the size of directories without taking into account that the contained files might be hard linked. This might lead you to think that the WinSxS folder takes up more disk space than it really does.

Disk Clean-up, like File Explorer, doesn't seem to check for hard links when calculating sizes. Funilly enough this time round I didn't see this myself, though I did last August, in common with several others.

The update went without a hitch this time.:) Maybe because I updated at 12:30 AM when I got home from work.

Yes....Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool always takes a while for me as well. Usually the cumulative update takes the longest, as it must check to see which new files need to be downloaded and installed.
I haven't installed the cumulative update yet but I had installed the Malicious Software Removal Tool update and it took quite sometime to finish.

A little question about the cumulative updates. Are they scanning the system before downloading the necessary files or are they downloading the whole msu thing and then open the index to compare to what is need to be installed?
