Just as a FYI, someone else had a crash while installing the paid version of MBAM; however, when he installed the free version, but didn't activate it, no crash. Go figures.
That's strange! I wonder what the difference is? On my computer I had to uninstall Malwarebytes to get this build installed. I wasn't sure what program was causing the problem so I uninstalled MBAM and MBAE. Both were the free version. So far MBAM (free) hasn't caused any problems. When I installed MBAE I can only find the premium version so the trial version gets installed. I had to stop it protecting Edge because it wouldn't let Edge start.

From what I understand, he was installing it after he had installed the update.

Is this just me or does this happen to someone else, too:

    Change the theme:

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14942 for PC on Fast ring-image.png

Close the Control Panel Personalisation module.

Theme background disappears as soon as you close Control Panel, only showing solid black colour, not even Insider Preview watermark is shown:

To finally show the desktop background of your selected theme, you have to sign out and back in, or end and restart the Explorer.exe process.

This has been on my machines as long as I can remember. With every new build I am waiting to see this gone but as it is still there and has been as far as I can remember from the beginning, I am starting to think various Twilight Zone theories, that it's just me and my machines are haunted :)

Anyone able to to confirm this behaviour?

Black screen shows for a fraction of a second and background come back. So, can't confirm this, Kari.

    @Kari
I had some similar weirdness yesterday but didn't investigate.
    Will keep my eyes peeled.

LOL I had this from the start(first Technical Preview builds)....only on my desktop. @Brink and I wrang our heads over it.
It only happens very seldom now, but I had to turn off theme syncing, because it was causing theme corruptions.
It's the main reason I had to download and install his desktop right click menu context menu Restart Explorer: Restart Explorer Context Menu - Add in Windows 10 - Windows 10 Forums

Strange. For me this happens on all machines (HP laptops and desktops, Asus laptop, all quite low end) and all Windows 10 Hyper-V virtual machines on these machines.

Captured a short video about it (just over a minute):

I got a message from Microsoft (on my desktop) asking if I'd recommend this Build to anyone else. They shouldn't orta done that . . . I explained to them exactly why I'd be extremely unlikely to recommend it!

Good for you. Followed your, and several others, plights and may skip this build. Haven't been able to download yet,but maybe it's a blessing.
