Thank you. Unless I use an option in the tutorial, the "Get Windows 10" app icon still shows on mine to let me check the reserve status.

Check to make sure you have all recommended or optional Windows update installed currently. Specifically update KB3035583 if you have it there, give the computer a shut down, restart and it should come up. But check to see if you have that update installed. It came up on both my PC's today.
I have this update, but no icon... Although I did have to reactivate Win 8.1 through MS's support number, due to upgrading my system (thx to my MB going fubar last week). I hope this reactivation didn't screw me out of my copy of Win 10.

Note: Clean install Win 8.1 ISO, activated via Win 8.0 key and MS support.

    Update:

I was able to get the icon & register by following: http://techdows.com/2015/06/how-to-e...1-taskbar.html

That W10 reserve icon is like a virus! Hide the icon and it just comes back on the next startup/reboot. Might just be a coincidence but my W7 machine just started to take over three minutes to startup.

I have this little colourless icon but, I don't mind. I did make it so it doesn't show in the taskbar. :)

Yes, I removed the Windows update KB file and the next boot it shows up again ready for reinstall.

Yep, you have hide it that's all. I removed it, the needed reboot was 30-40 seconds and a startup was 35 seconds from Glary Utilities however they calculate it. Is MS trying to punish us for not reserving a copy by slowing our startup times?
