OH,, no problem.. I'm just messing with you.

Sigh, updates rarely go well though when upgrading to a newer O/S. I wonder if on my laptop all my software and such? I would much rather preform a clean ISO install of 10.
If MS doesn't allow a clean install from the free upgrade you could do a clean install of 7 or 8.1 update. Do the free upgrade to 10 then install all your programs.

With past updates/upgrades you could download a compatibility checker. I wonder will one of these be available for Win 10 as I haven't found it yet.
If my PC couldn't run Win 8.1, would run Win 8, will Win 10 work on it?
Sooooo....many questions
I have a PC that I had installed Windows 8.0 64 bit on, but when Windows 8.1 64 bit came out, Microsoft had changed the specs and it wouldn't run. After some research and a lot of help from Eight Forums, I reinstalled Windows 8.0 32 bit and then upgraded to Windows 8.1. It worked!
So, it's worth a try if you haven't already done so . . .

Evening everyone,
Sadly, although my Windows 7 X64 install is 'legit', and my PC runs Windows 10 happily (I'm an insider), the Windows 10 App doesn't show on my taskbar...
Very Best Wishes,
Bob.
Same here, Bristolian! And I've been an Insider from the beginning.
Desktop came with Windows 8.0 and upgraded through Microsoft to Windows 8.1 and then to Windows 8.1 Update. No icon!
Lappy 17 came with Windows 8.1 and has gone through all the regular updates. No icon!
Both computers installed updates yesterday and today.

I always used to do clean installs for the last 20 years or so, but with Win10 I decided to try the upgrade path over my Win8.1pro and all my programs. Result? No problems at all with all the fasttrack updates of Win10 over my Win8.1. All my programs I've tested run just the same. Looks like MS have cracked the update problems.
Give it a try, you might be surprised!

As Heyya said, updates rarely go well . . . and that is exactly what happens to me too.
I let the updates install and use the computer a day or two to see what does and doesn't work. Lots of stuff doesn't work at all. So, then I do a clean install and almost everything that was wrong is now right.

I've installed further updates, and still no App in the task bar.
There is talk that maybe it's only en_us at the moment...
Very Best Wishes,
Bob.
Ummm, I'm en-us, Bob and so far, no icons for me. Theory busted! :)

Hello Wynona,
It's really confusing as to why this is happening... I've been reading this thread over at Microsoft, there are a few different cmds to try, but none of them have worked for me:-
I want to reserve my free copy of Windows 10, but I dont see - Microsoft Community
Very Best Wishes,
Bob.

That's the way I'll go if there's no ISO available. No way I'll upgrade over two or three years' worth of flotsom and jetsom! :)

I'm looking forward to my Asus upgrading, I think they might be getting my phone ready as well, it had a big update today and it's now showing as 8.1 Update 2 :)
