I have a legal copy of windows 8.1 on one of my computers and a legal copy of Windows 7 on the other. Since they are both legal, will I be able to get Windows 10 on each computer?

Great! Thanks for the good news.

A friend of mine still runs Vista! I guess is nothing for him from Microsoft?

The best he can do is to get Windows 10 Upgrade, which shouldn't cost quite as much as a full version.

I've got a Vista to upgrade, too. But I'll pay whatever is required to get all my systems on win 10. Luckily, two of them are eligible for the freebie.

As far as W 8 not playing movies, it will play reg DVDs, not Blu Ray. When I got home from my trip, I couldn't figure it out. I thought I had used it before so I check with a reg DVD and it played. I only took my fantasy movies with me and they were BR. Sorry I did not know of any way to explain it.
Gets confusing for sure! What software was being used to play the reg DVD? Mine didn't play automatically. I had to open it from Kodi or VLC. Couldn't test BR.

Wynona, will it do that on my W 8 upgraded to W8.1 since I use a W 7 to most of my posting in here. I will watch for it on both computers. Will I need any past windows updates to upgrade to W 10.
Thanks for the help.
Just keep running the normal updates that come through and it should sort itself out. You will get both systems upgraded free in due course.

Thanks for the link, Dude!
I know the videos are from Microsoft, but at the end, I would just love to hear one of the kids rattle off an answer to him! It should be as convoluted as his question. :)

No way you can dig up another valid copy of 7 or 8.1, Lin?
