    Hi here

Now Edge can handle LOCALHOST type of IP addresses (Build 10166 -- default -- you can change it if you want to disallow those types of addresses) it will make it a lot more useable.

I still though prefer the Favourite layout in IE11 and I'm not a fan of tabbed browsing. Call me old fashioned if you like but I DO also like the menu option you have with IE.

On a TOUCH device though Edge looks good.

    Cheers

    Night Hawk,

If you are using windows 10 in a VM, that doesn't test out if the hardware will work, it needs to be installed to the hard drive. I notice something with build 10166 that was different when you upgrade. Windows 10 10166 install is smart, it will let you know if there are any issues. It also has an option, that ask you to get update before you install. Don't uncheck that, it will download everything it needs including drives. The install takes a little longer but your computer is updated except for Windows defender-When the installation is done.

The hardware requirements for W10 aren't that much, but the VM installation makes me wonder...

Say, I'll backup my W10 installed in VM and and create an image via Macrium, or any other suitable image backup software. The image backup can be restored to a physical drive, HDD or SSD. Will the W10 license require reactivation?

    Thanks anyway...

Restoring Windows 8.1 VM from my MacBook Pro with VMware Fusion to a physical disk, SSD, in my PC did work. Neither the OS nor Office 2013, retail keys, required reactivating the licenses. Currently dual-booting with Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 on my PC via the BIOS/EUFI F12 option.

I am just not certain, if the VM installation of Windows TP will receive an RTM update. If it does, I'll test restoring the image backup to my PC...

Tabbed browsing only in 10? I would think there would be an option for that in the options. Even when running the open source browser WaterFox I keep things to windows not tabs! Tabs can be convenient for having multiple pages open all at once while I maintain a dual monitor setup and simply use the move button to slide the extras over from #1!

Since the RTM is just around the corner my concern however will not be with the Preview VM as that was one of the earlier builds but maybe a temp VM for the RTM once I get that on the second drive. Then I could try that on the VM to if the final has any similar connectivity problems not being on a physical drive.

I actually didn't get the chance to get the preview on the second drive first as the second main storage drive has been acting up and a pair of system images are being kept on the OS drive there. I may have drop a 2tb drive in to clear that up. Most likely it was the severe lack of detecting any of the hardwares that not only resulted in no web connection but no sound either since no sound device could be detected. The latest VM Player seems to need a newer version for 10 while still working for 8 maybe 8.1.

As a rule the Windows installer going back to XP would prompt you about checking for driver updates as part of the process. The automatic search would then begin. I always left the auto check marked off while generally checking separately afterwards for version of update verifications in the event the auto check didn't pick up on the newest out or just out. I've run into that before.

Once the installation is activated properly restoring an image even if from a VM can work without problem unless some hardware detection issue comes up where you are prompted about contacting MS. But I still prefer to see a direct clean install for each thing separately to insure things are being set up correctly. A VHD would be backed up in the event I was planning a host drive wipe and then see the VHD backup restored once the VM type ware was installed all over fresh again to retrieve what had been done if the VM got involved which usually isn't the case here.

The VMs are generally for fast reference of something when either not already installed to the other drive or to avoid the need to boot back and forth. Unfortunately for this beta to come up I knew I wouldn't be having the time to spend giving it a complete lookover before RTM time came about. My personal time has been a bit infringed lately while I will be giving the rtm no less a look at every angle since I also have friends running 8 laptops and a few other 7 machines kicking around.

It comes as no surprise seeing the OEMs make the start guide for any new version proceed the release date. They don't want to pump out machines and then hear people complaining that they don't know how to do things! Plus you have the intial set up proceedures for each machine that require instructions. But 10 is soon to be upon us no less!
