    don't you hate that :) ...1/2 the required info..... HOW ,WHERE, WHAT would be nice..... :)..

    .
    I thought I saw a comment about cab files not are not install files, but i swear i was able to do it before, from brinks op post regarding the 32 and 64 bit offline installers. So I didnt actually solve it, and still face the same problem after downloading it on a third computer, it doesnt do anything like his previous links to 64 and 32 bit version offline updates.

    Does any body else have the same issue?

    I've seen this mentioned a bit over on WindowsCentral also...same symptoms. As I've posted on here, I've had the same problem.

    As of about 1 hour ago I have a second machine that will get to about 90%+ with error and then back-out the changes.

    Both of my machines are recent vintage (less than 2 years). Using Gigbyte and Asus motherboards on a desktop (swapped out mbs to check) with i7-4790k fails, and an i7 laptop also fails.
    I have the exact same problem. Is there a solution?

    KB3194496 no longer on Microsoft Update Catalog.....installs/fails/reverts then loops to a new Update install. PITA, and wish Microsoft would get this issue fixed. Losing tons of time in reboots, reinstalls, etc. Not a peep from MS from anything I can find regarding this problem, either. GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

    @Georgeilots

    This link may be of interest concerning the installation of cab files.

    Windows 10 update cab file Installer.

    I have not personally used this yet but I have downloaded the zip file for future use.

    Hi,

    Haven't seen any solutions yet. But, there are a few more unhappy people over at Windows Central since I last checked earlier today. Seems that there's something going on and it needs a fix.

    The program works fine...all it does is spare the user the tedium of having to write in the path & filename into DISM, which command it runs for you...unfortunately, it's still no go for me. It still errors out very quickly--or, rather, simply freezes even doing the manual archive through DISM.

    OK, the wife's desktop--similar to mine but running the standard, non-Insider version of Win10x64...updated the first time through WU from 14393.187 to 14393.222...! No problems at all...Go figure...

    I have turned off secure boot as that will be my last try until this thing forces me through these hoops yet again....if it happens to work I'll get back with the result. Right now, WU is completely ignoring my "office hours" setting...every time I reboot it tries to apply the same failed update...

    Edit: Ok, the attempt with secure-boot failed in exactly the same way, @ 99%...amazing, eh? I even tried uninstalling the last security update, KBxxxxxx66 (ends in 66), turning off Defender, WU went straight to the CU which it should have, bypassing the update I had uninstalled--none of it made the slightest difference!

    I have system restored to 14393.187 and that's where I'll be (between forced, failed updates) until Microsoft fixes this thing. Wish I had better news...!
