Jeff, the "orange" one only popped up if I didn't have my default PDF reader installed; once that was done, my PDF reader took over. Not so now with Edge. No matter whether I have my default reader of choice installed or not, I have to jump through hoops to make it my default! Same with Firefox, which I much prefer; Microsoft has made Edge the default! Even when 10122 (which had Firefox as my default browser) was updated to 10130, Microsoft changed my default Firefox and made Edge the default!

That is not nice, Microsoft! Changing my default apps that I clearly prefer to something I do not is tantamount to hijacking my computer! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Whew, glad to get that out into the open! :)
Click on start and type default. Click on Default Programs. You should be able to set default program under Set your default programs or Associate a file type or protocol with a program.

    No Sound

    I've noticed:
    1. The problem when opening apps always in small size has been fixed.
    2. If you have MS Games (From Windows 7). You have to do a repair to get them back
    3. If you create any Right Click context menu. You'd have to redo them
    4. Sound not working with my SB X-Fi. I had to open the Device Manager, disable it then re-enable.
    5. Weather App works correctly

Otherwise, Sailing smootly. All my installed apps work flawlessly.
I have no sound on my desktop I do on my laptop I tried disabling and reenabling but didn't work my troubleshooter doesn't work either and every time I try to test my speakers it tells me that it fails to play the sound.

Oh, I know how to change my default; it's just that Microsoft thinks it knows better than I what I need or want! I shouldn't have to deal with a hijacked system in order to have things like I left them when an update occurs.

Hello, Tx Guy . . . Glad to see another fellow Texan here! I hope you stayed as dry as we did!

OK, to the problem at hand. I'll pass on what I've learned and hopefully, it will help you. I think (dangerous for me to say) that no matter which sound "card" you have, this should work:

    Sound.docx

Edit: Well, it looks like all you'll get is a link, so if you can't open the file you'll have to get Microsoft Office for Windows 10 from the Store (Beta). It's free and a boon to everyone; well worth the time to download.

Just open Store(Beta) and in the search bar, type Office. The Office downloadables will present themselves to you.

Wow! I just gave two tutorials. :) Typical of a Texan . . . overkill!

    Hello,

Does anyone have any information about Windows 10: release date, reviews, features etc. Any reliable links and third party reviews will be very helpful. We are looking to upgrade our systems and are wondering if we should wait for the arrival of Windows 10.

    Thank you in advance,

I just tried this and it didn't work in either OS. I have a duel boot. I held down the left shift and kept tapping the F8 key. It did cause the boot to slow but didn't launch the safe mode at all.
Your above quote was posted by dmholt57 post183.
My post stated "Restart the computer" while holding down the SHIFT key.
This brings up the "Choose an Option" screen, click on Troubleshoot then Advanced Options.

Not sure if this works with a duel boot, but it certainly works in both W8.1 and W10 preview 10130.

ZDnet.com, PCWorld.com, Softpedia.com, Neowin.net etc. are some that come quickly to mind.

You might want to become an insider so that you can see for yourself exactly what Windows 10 is all about. Start Here: Home page - Windows Insider Program or here Blogging Windows

Either search with Bing or Google, using Windows 10 and you'll find a wealth of information available across the Internet.

The last thing I would suggest is that you read these forums; there is more information than you'll ever need in this lifetime or the next. :)

My screenshot is from a Build 10130 virtual machine just after it's first boot after the installation have not yet installed anything from the store, the Reader app is natively there. Just type Reader in search, you'll find it.
Kari, that is what started this post. It is not on my computer natively. I did a clean install from the 10130 ESD and this is what I am working with.
If I type "Reader" from the search it will bring up "Reader" but it is at the Store to download. Clean install versus update? Not sure. I just wanted to do a clean install because I have been doing updates for a while.

OK. My screenshot was from an upgrade install, let me boot up a clean installed 10130 and I will check that.
