The free Windows 10 upgrade means users won't be buying New PCs

I cannot see non techies buying a new computer for win 10 or even caring about having a DVD
The update if its easy I can see them doing, but then panicking when things are different and thinking the computer is broke
You are right, that's how usually always was, only exclusion from that I have seen is after Win95 hype when a lot of people were chasing new computers to be able to use "That wonderful, new OS".

Thanks Wynona, it was originally a Psychedelic GIF that changed colors fast, but I decided against it, because there could be people with Epilepsy on the forums, and I do not want to be responsible if they get an attack.
I have a few friends with this problem, one is even a singer from a well known regional Heavy Metal band and he has to be careful of the light show during concerts.
Thanks for your consideration, Cliff. My husband is an epileptic although he hasn't had a seizure since he was 22. Docs say that it could come back, but in 50 plus years it hasn't. So, we rarely think about it.

I'm still debating about doing the upgrade on my Windows 7 desktop machine. That one is getting a bit long in the tooth now, it came with Vista installed and when 7 came out I bought that when it was on offer. At first I dual booted between Vista and 7 but then got rid of Vista and clean installed 7. The only problem is that it only has a 250 GB drive and 2GB RAM.
I will upgrade this Asus which came with 8 and was then upgraded to 8.1, this one has a 320 GB drive and came with 4GB RAM but I put another 4GB stick in to take it to 8GB.
It's the machine I'm using to test out 10 but in a VM not as the main OS.

Joan, if the Windows 7 machine is hefty enough for 64 bit, I'd say (if you can find it) bring it up to 8 GB RAM and you should be good to go. Worst case scenario is that you may have to install Windows 10 32 bit on it. I'm trying to think of a way to test it without messing with your existing hard drive. Do you have another one lying around you could use for testing purposes?
The hard drive is plenty big for (probably) whatever you want to do. I have my laptops with 500 GB hard drives (both partitioned to a little less than 250 GB) to take Windows 10 as a dual boot.
