Well, I got all updated to the new build, and... no go. Same symptoms as with 14915. Here’s the tale of woe:

Same problem with the sign-in screen (text fields white, dimmed background pic), no start menu, sound volume/time-date not working, can’t open settings (something-or-other not associated), and probably other things that escape me right now.

I may or may not try a clean install (I did with 14915 and it made no difference). I guess I'm going to be sitting out for the second consecutive build. Maybe it's just my ancient machine, though every build has worked on it since October of 2014, when this whole fun-fest began. My time as an Insider may just be drawing to a close...

Could there be a problem with GPU drivers ?

Where could I find where that bloody delay with populating taskbar may be ? Sound I'm getting is a mix of New device discovered and standard W7 start sound.

Something funny with drivers on this go-round for sure: my Dell Venue Pro 7139 went sideways on a whole bunch of drivers, including the built-in Intel graphics, SMB, memory controller, and Intel Management stuff. Also, I completely lost my Dell/Atheros 1537 WiFi/BT driver. I had to use a USB GbE Ethernet adapter to regain Internet access so I could download and restore the driver to operation. This hasn't happened since like ... last summer (2015) I'm thinking ... as the original Windows 10 release (1507, though that's not what they called it at the time) was nearing completion. I guess we really are starting over!
I'm going to create a driver backup for my desktop test machine before installing over there, because I always used to lose the Killer NIC that provides GbE on that machine, too. I'll follow up when that job is done...

Well, I tried Boot Racer and it showed full boot as 318 seconds instead of usual ~20. Start to desktop only 9 seconds. Turned off all from startup and didn't get a second faster.
Went back to 14915 and boot speed as usual. Gong to try upgrade from ISO now.

    Update.
After trying several things during last few hours, upgraded from ISO I made and now works right again.

Hard to say. I'm using simple Intel integrated graphics, and have never had a problem before. I tried both the stock drivers that come with the build, and some old drivers I've been using all along to let me run my planetarium program. No joy.

I don't really know what to try next.

My boot drive seems to have died. I have installed 14915 on another drive. The new build hasn't shown up yet.
I got an RMA Number for my PCIe SSD. I've clean installed 14926 on another drive.

Only issue so far: When using Update it goes into a cycle of about half a dozen tries when downloading Windows Defender definitions.

Didn't have a catastrophic boot drive failure, but not seeing the new build either!

    Attachment 101453
The drive failed before the new build appeared. clean installed on HDD.

Just a note, if with the previous update, your wifi stopped working and you rolled back to Build 14905, this new build rectifies the issue.
