If you mean the automatic maintenance scan that start itself while the PC is idle, then the Anniversary Update broke that one for me. The trick to get it working again is to go into Defender settings and turn off real-time protection. Now restart your machine. Defender will turn itself back on with all the right tweaks to let it run automatic scans again.
Tried the turn off / turn on for defender, will report back when my laptop is idle to see if it scans. Thanks for the tip. :)

    New bugs -
Laptop plugged in / charging - Battery reads 99%. Status says 27 minutes until fully charged.

Autoplay no longer does what it's supposed to do with either of my USB pen drives or my External HDD, settings are what I set them to. Resetting has no effect either.

And another new one - Copy / Paste from a notepad to E-Mail (tried both Edge & Chrome) won't work either.

Is the testing of these updates left down to everyone who owns a windows product ? Do they not have bata testers ? WU is getting far beyond a joke now. Not happy at all.

it is 431 Mb. How come many claim it is over 1 gig?
Possibly because if you do a Disk Clean-up after installing it the 'Windows Update Clean-up' item says it is so. That figure itself can be a bit misleading, I'm not sure if it takes 'hard links' into account.
For operating system files, it can appear that more than one copy of the same version of a file is stored in more than one place on the operating system, but there’s usually only one real copy of the file. The rest of the copies are just “projected” by hard linking from the component store. A hard link is a file system object that lets two files refer to the same location on disk. Some tools, such as the File Explorer, determine the size of directories without taking into account that the contained files might be hard linked. This might lead you to think that the WinSxS folder takes up more disk space than it really does.

Others should note that your link is for the x64 one.

That works fine here by me.

New update on this - Laptop left idle for sometime, still had to do a manual scan even after following the above steps.

Tried a few times now, even a reboot / Ccleaner / cache clean up - no change, still won't copy / paste to e- mail.

How long did you wait? It doesn't scan every time you are idle, just once a day in my experience. You only posted that you'd tried my tip an hour or so ago. I've just checked on my machine (where Defender's 'scan on idle' does work). The last time it did so was 23 hours ago.

If you want to be sure Defender scans, there's nothing to stop you scheduling a task to do that. See how others have done so in this thread.

I'm having a problem at the Update Catalog website. When I try to add the kb3189866 download to the cart the add button just doesn't work, I can't add it to the cart.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

Hmm I just opened up Windows Update this morning and instead of getting the error that the PC was shut down and to retry downloading it said that the update was ready to install. It's now says that a restart is required to complete the installation.

It took me 3-4 day's to get here and I was just about to install it manually.
