Thank you for the insight, the solution worked but is it alright to go ahead and delete the update from there HDD to save space?

Looking closer, the OS is still stuck at 45%. After installing the KB3189866 manually.

Update History shows that the Security Update for Windows KB3189866 was successful but the Cumulative update for Win10 KB3189866 shows failed but that was before it tried the download manually.

My point is KB3189866 a security patch or a cumulative update?
and how do I get rid of the Update stuck at 45% message on the screen.

Any ideas on how to get the update manually? - I am stuck with Waiting for catalog,update...... repetitive tries using windows update stuck at 95%

Same here - had to download manually on 2 pc's . Got it installed, but spent some time on it - shouldn't have to do that to get updates, Microsoft!

Downloaded manually and installed also, finally updated.

OK - Took FOREVER but I just waited it out and it finally downloaded the updated and I was able to install it successfully. Tho I tried all the instructions from previous posts, I I was never able to figure out how to download it manually - see my earlier post.

Thank you kindly for this i am 64 bit and so used the x64 link, 400 odd megabytes download. installed without issue, restarted and then checked and installed the malicious tool and adobe for IE,now all done. excellent advice
