It usually take a few years before the 3rd party wares finally decide to play catch up with the rest! I trust that was 8 not 8.1 you are pointing to there. Being two versions of Windows can present problems as well at times.

As for the slowdowns other then a few browser bog downs seen lately file transfers like copy and paste to usb flash drives is a time consumer lately despite the larger capacity flash drives in use.(128gb transfers not by Team Viewer or to VM but laptop(s) etc) Of course there were a wee bit over 7,000 files being transferred I have to add.

Been using Firestorm viewer for Secondlife since my Windows 7 Days, then on my 8.0 days, and 8.1 days, and then Windows 10 days, but overall system is running fine, so happy there, dreads transferring large files though over lan or even to flash drives, which reminds me need to get large capacity one to somehow backup my entire music collection lol, 279gbs or so lol, (maybe Blu-ray drive in my future lol) Maybe 2 128gb drives lol

I transfer files as well as folders directly using the Team Viewer app between the desktops with rather swift speeds while usb tranfers will tend to drag on and on especially for any large volumes. With the TV app in contrast to VMs one thing to note however is the often seen need to open the file transfer wizard at times while dragging over from explorer windows to VM is almost instantaneous as well as the right click to copy, right click to paste in VM.

A music folder here being transferred to a 10 laptop was only 62.2gb in size and was taking forever since that was still being seen with a USB 2.0 not 3.0 flash drive. Been waiting for prices to drop on the larger 512gb and 1tb 3.0 drives some time in order to have data backups in a two drive pocket size holder. One thing that helped out with the laptop is not relying on the ISP modem's WiFi but the separate router attached own WiFi capability to speed remote transfers as well as much improved connection. With the same could be said for the 7 side of the 10/dual on the second remote pc due to that still needing the usb WiFi adapter while the 10 side is hard wired direct to router. The main goes to ISP modem however having it's own 4 port hub.

The only other problems already solved have been with the now rather outdated expansion cards as had been seen for each newer build. The tv tune card however has been seeing it's own driver and substitute app for another model remain intact through all this while the sound card needs a fresh install every time namely for the audio mixer portion.

EAX effects still working after each install without any issues to report. That had at one time been an issue for gaming while no longer any concern. The Direct X issues of the past have also been corrected as well for no longer needing to see DX9 installed for each clean install as had been the case for XP through 7 in years past.

Thinking of maybe storing music on the little Atom PC, but thing is there, it's from 2009, and original 5400rpm hard drive, my luck I do the transfer, and the drive would conk out, but then again i'd still have the original copy on the 500gb external, but hmms, most of the music is CD Rips, (can't find the CD's now though lol) Windows Phone 8.0 Music deals some Christmas, over 30gbs of music, and stuff I got from Windows store when I had my WIndows phone lol, and some bing rewards/Microsoft rewards bought ones over the years. Wonders how transfer would be with ISP Combo Gateway/Wifi lol, (only can use this) as can't afford separate router, and have phone service thru Comcast. Project to work on maybe tomorrow lol if I feel like it lol

Even after installing this fix, i have freezing issues. Sometimes when log in i get 20-30sec freeze. Even during classic work on PC independently on what i am doing i get minor 10-15sec freezes. Not so often like before patch but still...
I tried clean install and result is the same.

Welcome to the Ten Forums! LamaObecna It just may be why I haven't been running into of that type of problem following the Redstone 1 Anniversary update going on has to do with having Windows set to automatically log onto the main admin account. The guide for seeing that set up can be looked over for consideration at:
Sign in User Account Automatically at Windows 10 Startup - Windows 10 Forums

That might just prove to be a good workaround to avoid constantly running into the freezing issues. For VMs which at first were not able to see the autoadminlogon option I ended up applying both of the two options in the guide there to end up with working results.

Now as far as a 7yr. or older drive, AMDMan2016 that would always be a risk due wear and tear while even a brand new drive could fail on you as well while not nearly as likely. Multiple backups always seems to be the best way to insure safe keeping as well as an occasion full system image back up of the main as well as other drives.

When a 1tb drive here used as one of the two storage/backup drives was thought to be stuffed and I ended up replacing that pair with two brand 2tb drives I later found that the drive was still working normally only in an external enclosure later to be moved into the second case. Still never was able to determine why that drive was slow to respond and sometimes not available while there are no problems on the board including switching the drive back and forth between 2 or 3 sata ports both Sata II and initially on one of the Sata 3 ports. S3 drives will still work on S2 ports but not vice versa with Sata I or II drives on S3 ports.

I am not using automatic log in to my account. I have just one local account on my machine, that's true, but I have to type password. So no auto logon.
I just recovered my previous build system image and I will wait some time before I try it again. For now I checked defer updates in the settings menu.

With the restoration your problem resolved?

By deferring all updates you may by chance prevent any patch or other fixes MS will come out with in order to address this type of problem. The WU is kind of a two way street in that sense. It can bring a headache at times but also the solution for it.

Any full restoration before a problem is seen will generally resolve any present issues as long as the restoration itself is 100% and doesn't end up bringing back some other previous problem. We now have to wait and see.

Wrong terminus technicus by me :). I crossed defer upgrades, not updates.

Yes, previous build (10586.545) is working fine.
