Win 10 1607 build SSD space

    Hi guys,

I've noticed that the new build takes a lot less space - From 22GB roughly to 9GB on my work laptop.

    Can you confirm that?

If yes, great job Microsoft. Hope it doesnt crash though.

Windows 10 update breaks PowerShell, won't fix it until next week

Windows 10 update breaks PowerShell and Microsoft won't fix it until next week

If you can't use Microsoft's PowerShell after the latest Windows 10 update, Microsoft has four words for you: sorry for the inconvenience.
The latest came on Tuesday, when Microsoft rolled-out a cumulative patch for the Anniversary Update that broke PowerShell, its command line shell and scripting language. The notes accompanying the release suggest Microsoft knew the changes would stop several PowerShell features from working.

It's the most recent issue to emerge following the rollout of the Windows 10 Anniversary Update, which has triggered mystery freezing issues and broken USB-connected webcams.
For what it's worth, Microsoft is once again sorry for breaking Windows 10 features after hyping up its Anniversary Update.

"We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause," it said.

The series of problems with the update have surfaced despite months of testing by Windows Insiders in Microsoft's preview rings. Indeed, even though Microsoft knew in January that webcams might be affected by changes it would roll-out in August, it failed to warn users.

In regards to the error message about 'Insider Preview settings need attention' I had this issue & a reboot (several actually) never fixed the issue. Googled the problem & found a solution (create Restore Point first )

    1. Go to Settings, Update & Security, Windows Update, and then to Advanced Options
    2. Select Stop Insider Preview Builds
    3. Restart your computer
    4. When the computer starts again, open Registry Editor (go to Search, type regedit, and press Enter)
    5. Navigate to the following key:

    • HKEY_Current_User > Software > Microsoft > WindowsSelfHost > Applicability
    • Delete Error State, PilotInfoRing, and LastHR entries
    • Note: some of these steps may/may not be necessary due to your situation.

    HTH.
Thanks for the suggestion but none of the mentioned keys exist on my system, even the directory does not exist, there is no "WindowsSelfHost" under HKEY_Current_User. There is one under "HKEY_Local_Machine" but like I said, no such keys.

Well since there do not seem to be any negative implications with that bug (apart from the error message) I think I'll just ignore it. Maybe MS will fix it with a future update.

Yeah, is there any windows 10 update that does work without breaking something?
How about microsoft doing better control over their vendors as in what they did with percision touchpads and not giving users such a bad update experience.

Imagine you use your laptop for ecommerce and you get an update that messes your entire computer up so you cant use it for two days. Heads would roll.....

This update has transformed my tablet into a snail. Was fine before the update now it's sluggish and freezes a lot. Very unhappy. Since I did the same on the home pc and didn't have a problem I decided to delete the old version of windows to save some space on the tablet. If I was smarter I wouldn't and just rolled back.
Should we expect Microsoft to release another update that fixes this issues or am I just being plain optimistic?

    Cheers
