The same in many parts of the UK (outside the towns/cities), where I am the max speed is 2 Mb/s (on a very good day), we do get unlimited, but with these speeds its annoying to even download SD, never mind anything higher

It will be a sad day if physical media dies anytime soon
Downloading the W10TP upgrades is quite annoying.

So why do it, Is someone twisting your arm? Downloading updates is great for me, it gives me something new to look forward to.

There are a few JB HiFi stores around where I live, I can assure you physical media is not going to die in the near future, it's amazing the amount of people still buying it.

Takes me 12 to 14 hours to download

For some reason all downloads for MS are very slow for me (xbox game took 12 hours last weekend)
Downloads from other places I can usually get about 1GB/hour (if I do it during the day)

I'm sorry for this dumb comment, but, those are really slow download times. I have Vodafone mobile broadband with at least 7.2 Mbps. Attachment 19123

would love to get that speed
I woudnt like to do a speed test for mobile (I still live with a GPRS signal at home), not even suitable for checking emails
when in nearest town I do get 4g, so no problems with that

work seems to be starting on improving the BB, supposed to be sometime this year getting faster, so I might join the 21st century soon :)

Why I get very slow download from MS, but ok from other providers is a mystery to me

Using Ubuntu I've gotten much faster, up to 20Mbps for short spurts(about 5 seconds. I don't know how though, maybe it over rides, but being pre-paid it doesn't matter 5GB is 5GB just gone faster. I'm still deciding which ISP to use.

    You missed the point.
It was a comment about Internet download speed.

As to why I do it, MS doesn't send me W10TP DVDs.

Oh okay, I'm on over 100mbs so it doesn't affect me much, it usually only takes around 15 minutes to download a new upgrade.

It must be nice to get that sort of speed.

Your "guesstimate" seems to indicate that you were actually averaging ~30 Mb/s on that occasion.

It took ~80 minutes for b10074 to finish downloading here.

Our Internet package (landline) includes 200 GB of data per month, but the maximum speed is 6 Mb/s (and it usually seems to be a lot less than that).
