I was just curious what they posted for a changelog(by the way this):

Updates for Windows 10 Version 1607
August 2, 2016 — KB3176929 (OS Build 14393.10) This update includes quality improvements. No new operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key changes include:

Improved reliability of background tasks and extensions for Microsoft Edge.
Addressed licensing issue that prevents apps from activating.
Addressed issue that prevents changing display orientation after attaching a keyboard dock.
Addressed issue with scheduled update scans that are delayed during Connected Standby.
Addressed issue that sometimes prevent Extensible Application Markup Language (XAML) apps from receiving keyboard input.
Addressed issue with event logging that creates very large virtual allocations.
Addressed issues that cause high battery drain when a Windows 10 Mobile device is idle or the screen is off.
Addressed additional issues with Cortana, Microsoft Query and Microsoft Excel compatibility, and the Korean Input Method Editor (IME).

You can also just let it install Home, then do a change key and enter the Pro generic key, the same one in your PID.txt file. It will then upgrade to Pro and activate with the Pro Digital Entitlement. It just unlocks the Pro features. It's what I did the first time Windows did the switcharo on me.

OUCH! Now when doing the intial 8 Home? to 10 upgrade were you running the previous version's Home or Pro edition regardless of the OEM key embedded? By default moving into 10 Pro from any previous Home edition wouldn't seem possible as far as the upgrade path goes and you wouldn't have seen the DE at the time. Had to ask that one.

Here I took the 32bit 7 Home Premium laptop to first end up with the buggy upgrade to 10 Home and later the fresh 32bit install until not able to shrink the primary down on the old laptop with the OEM primary present. After having seen the first 64bit clean install go on I ended up wiping the drive for the second when going to replace that first 32bit install. That was last August when that took place until something let go in December. I won't get a chance to see how the upgrade into the RS1 would have gone now however since it would seem the graphics/display chip let go while the laptop otherwise seems to start up normally but nothing onscreen.

The replacement laptop saw the iso mount and upgrade to update go as smoothly as with the three desktops. The 3rd desktop presented the message that I wouldn't be able to revert back to 7 on that once the update was on. No worries!

When I did my first upgrade, I was running 8.1 Pro and I updated to Win 10 Pro.

I have five computers. Three had the update available on windows update in settings. Two do not. One one of the two that do not (a Surface Pro 4), I am trying the option of hitting Learn More on the Windows update page and takes you to a page to download update assistant. Is doing the update with the update assistant the same as if I did it through windows update?

Edit:

It appears it is different. On the other PCs, I did not have to run through the setup such as the blue screen with options where it asks about privacy options such as to connect to a hotspot, etc... Using the upgrade assistant it did.

It also resets the default Apps. So far, I think those are the difference in the different upgrades.

As an SP4 Pro owner managed to get official update the day released....it turned out to be unusable....so took the "learn more option"
This again was useless as three quarters of the way through the install it stated unsuccessful and ground to a halt .

My advice would be to use Brinks link ISO in first post....have successfully installed on three computers this way including a Surface Pro 4.

One thing I would emphasise although Brinks post does explain this....click on first link, then choose language after if W10 Pro.
I inadvertently clicked on W10 single language which is for Windows Home.

bug 3: went out with cam and took images, came home and tried to view from File Explorer - says I cant use built in Administrator to view, I have to create another account to view????? ERm, No, I wont. I am ON my main account and I demand to see my images in my account.

Q: can I reverse process and go back to previous win 10.

Edit its working again after a switch off and start up. There is something wrong with win 10 as I have had to do several reboots in the past 3-4 weeks to get it working properly.
