I am so far, not able to get the update. Check updates says I am up to date, D/L the self assistant and during the compatibility check says that I do not have enough memory. System is laptop/tablet with 32 GB HDD, 29GB available with 14.2 used and 14.6 available. I have cleaned the disk, uninstalled just about everything, 14.6 not used is all I can free up. The compatibility check says it needs at least 16GB. Was thinking about compressing the disk...anyone tried that to be able to install???
I'm afraid you need a bigger drive. If you cannot free up some more GBs in order to reach that 16 GB it is going to be difficult. Where are your personal files located? Maybe you can move them to another drive and gain some space.

In my opinion 32 GB is not enough for a Windows system partition. I always recommend a minimum of 50 GB for the Windows system. If I where you I'd replace the SSD, get one with at least 100 GB, clone the system onto the new SSD and try again to update Windows.

Understand, Tx. All my personnel files have been removed as well as all the downloads I have made along with uninstalling the associated programs. The computer came with 8.1, upgraded to W10 without issue. The w10 RTM version has run fine on this machine. Why it wont upgrade once again is difficult to understand. As far as the HDD is concerned, I should not have said HDD in my original post, because this machine has 32GB memory using eMMC, a soldered on "chip", though replaceable, is beyond me doing this. Therefore I can't use a SSD/HDD etc. The only hope I have now is that I will get "lucky" and WU will be nice to me. I already have a fresh image stored just in case things did not go as expected. Tx for your reply.

Is the Windows 10 Anniversary update for all pc's or just insiders? One of my laptops has no updates yet. I tried https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...setting_client and had a error 0x80070057.

Laptop Win 10 version 1511 (OS Build 10586.494)

I have download and burned a DVD with media creation tool. Should I wait for update or force the upgrade?

    Thanks guys for the confirmation.

If I'm correct, there's a 2nd large update coming in the fall for WIndows 10? (Redstone or Threshold 2?)
I think the next major update is in Spring 2017.

I updated to this new build and, I DO NOT LIKE THE MAIN MENU.
my computer is slow, I keep getting requests to update a MS account I have NEVER used on this machine and,
It took me 45 seconds to empty the recycle bin with 120kb in it.. Not happy JAN.

I installed on 2 machines and the performance is noticeably faster on both. (Surface Book and Alienware 18)

    Hello All,

Check the below url, this is the best way to get the update

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...update-history
That's only the latest Windows Upgrade Assistent and won't help anyone already running 10's Threshold 2 update or later build.

That link puts one onto a ISO file which is ok for those who know how to use it. For those of us who do not, it's not ok. Permit me to ask the question again, how long has one to wait before the automatic update kicks in. Is it true one could wait up to six months or more?
Actually when downloading and saving the correct iso disk image you have your own options available for updating, upgrading if not simply updating, and even repair install option as well as being able to make up new installation media at any time if not seen to already.

Seeing disk image files burned to optical if not written to usb is rather old news at this point for most. I now can redo a few flash drives for the Pro edition at least while next getting a 10 Home desktop recently upgrade from 7 HP situated.

    Hi there

Before I got the download automatically I tried the upgrade assistant on another computer -- used the Manual method as per Brink's tutorial.

seems to work fine - and it's the correct edition.

    Attachment 93826

    Cheers

Went for saving the iso direct to drive on both desktops and mounted the iso for each to see the update go on without any wait since the WU wasn't going to see the RS1 when already running the Insider 14393 as well as 14385 RS1 Preview builds. Those are also considered permanent without expiration dates. This is many haven't been seeing the update arrive and still a day later hasn't shown up after the manual upgrade to update took place.

Still have that other desktop and three other laptops one having come with 10 pre-installed to update. With the update being kept on the main that will tell if the same or similar problems seen with the TH2 update come up again. I suspect it won't at this point however since the latest builds had been found much more stable.

    Hi guys,

Was the X64 Windows 10 ISO I downloaded from the link in the first page of this thread applicable to both Pro and Home versions?

    Thanks in advance.

The links for 32bit and 64bit determine the kernel for which of the dual edition downloads you will get. The installer will go by what it detects as already being on your system and select the files for the edition it detects. If you have 10 Home the installer won't put Pro files on. Even the Tech Bench download while that site was up would be dual edition downloads for Insider builds seen there.

The Redstone 1 being a major will be covering both Home and Pro editions while the Education and Enterprise see separate updates. You simply have to choose the right flavor or go back and choose the second in the event you have both 32bit and 64bit systems to update as some stuck with the 32bit 10.

Here I replaced the 32bit 7 Home Premium after shaky upgrade to 32bit 10 Home with at first a 32bit Clean install followed afterwards needing a total wipe of OEM stuff off of drive to the 64bit 10 Home before the display on the then 4yr. old laptop failed. Bought a new 10 model with larger screen in January now needing to be updated!
