Slipstreaming as it commonly referred to is an option typically used when performing a clean install of the OS. You should manually visit the Chuwi support site or alternate site if found for verifying present 10 updates and if not found 8.1 updates for the model you have there. If electing to later see a clean install by way of usb media you would uncheck the automatic check for updates having the correct updates especially if 64bit for 8.1 being the closest to what 10 needs in order to see that media either slipstreamed or simply keep the correct updates on a second flash drive for manual installs once 10 goes on clean again.

Here with problematic upgrades on laptops the entire OEM primary is simply nuked and a brand new custom primary would go on followed by the manual search when the 10 WU fails which so far hasn't on laptops while it has for older expansion cards on the main desktop.

Under Windows Update, I click on Learn More and then Get AU. It downloads a file. I ran it and it said my system is ok. I did not download the update (canceled the download) and figured I would ask here first.

If you didn't the Redstone 1 Anniversary update arrive within a day of the release for most on August 2nd it won't be coming in on it's own! The updated MC Tool or direct download of the Windows iso file will be necessary. Here I simply never waited since when looking enough time had already passed and at first used the save option with the MC Tool to grab the RS1 iso and called it a day. Later I got the other two 32bit and 64bit dual edition isos to keep onhand. From a separate partition or drive you then simply mount the iso to run the upgrade into the RS1.

That might be you best option! Since there an existing guide provided by the manufacturer that would definitely be something to consider since it will take you through the steps. It's their product and if you should get stuck following their guide that's where their support team then has to explain things in simple terms!

The idea of seeing a full system image made before proceeding if possible would still be another consideration in the event things don't turn out where you can at least get back to where you are now. The important first note however even without any image would be backing things up you want to keep safe! Have any family photos or other files back them up NOW! Do this First before anything else to prevent any losses!

If you just bought the tablet brand new tampering with anything would immediately void the warranty. As far as seeing to a full system image backup you need either an adequate hard drive in an external usb enclosure or a good size like 128gb flash drive to be large enough to handle the 34gb or larger size of the image to start with.

If you were only running 10 you might also use the built in option just as easy while the size of the image backup would likely come out somewhat larger as 3rd party programs like Acronis used here tend to compress the data quite a bit further to keep the image sizes down. The one problem you might run into unless the media used is bootable or having two not just one only usb ports is the need to boot live from removable media like a flash drive in order to use the recovery or restoration option in Windows to see the image restored afterwards. With a desktop or laptop generally besides usb an optical drive is present for a bootable cd or dvd even a Windows disk if not a software disk. The option you choose as far as program or backup in Windows will instruct on what to use while two ports would allow a usb optical drive for the bootable media especially if the drive is a burner for creating the media if not opting for the Windows option.

Since the guide is on their forums I can't say don't go with it but simply wanted to mention that if you just only lately purchased the unit within the last month or so might run into that type of dealer/factory type of warranty void issue. The 500gb external drive depending on how much drive space is already in use if at all could effect the image backup simply if not having sufficient space. But a Tablet as rule only sees a small sized SSD type drive to begin with and should end up with an image well under 100gb. Haven't seen the specs for the model you have however.

While you are at it you can also review a few of the guides here as well for things like seeing a Clean Install take place as well as the guide for seeing an Upgrade Installation which is now common practice for each newer Insider build or update that comes along except people not receiving the Redstone 1 Anniversary update automatically as generally everything has been arriving.

As for live booting to restore a full image made the Windows method will require that the same drive used be plugged back in or kept in as well as not seeing any changes at all made to the new folder that will be created. Also you won't have the option to custom name multiple images to keep in same folder or multiple folders you typically have with a 3rd party program. The next image will simply automatically overwrite the first. With a paid for program like Acronis which is for the long term consideration moving an image and even entire folder between drives has still seen results when tested. So expect some limitations with the build in options.

Well with the latest cumulative loose update where the 14393.67 just saw the prompt on the second machine to restart the number automatically changed to 14393.82 which is the change in WU updates not actual build number. That simply shows how far updated the present is according to what updates have come out since it was first released. The same was seen for the Threshold 2 last fall as well as on Insider Preview builds.

The hang on the Dell logo actually is no surprise since the HP 7 laptop upgraded to 10 last year had to traverse a few stumbling blocks in order to arrive at working results. First the initial upgrade from 7 HP x32 to 10 Home x32 when coming out buggy had to see a clean install take place. First downloading and saving the "windows.iso" directly that can be renamed if you want to Redstone1.iso without problem and mounting the iso(here using the free Virtual Clonedrive app) has been seeing reliable results for any sticklers you run into on any other build or later for the next update.

That's good! But you also have to remember some large strides have been seen in the last year from the launch date through the Threshold and now onto the Insider builds following the RS1 update to progress 10 futher along for the next update.

With 10 MS is now focused full attention on getting one version El Perfecto to follow 7's BIG Success story no less while having fumbled the ball with 8, 8.1 nose dives. 8.1 was simply a fast clean up for 8 while 10 is now trying to get things working. No OS is ever perfect however and 10 still needs a bit of work but so far has been moving along. The OEM factors however will always be unknowns there as to which and what will work as things go along. All that factory bloat and such?
