Microsoft Announces New Windows 10 Build Ahead of RTM
Posted: 07 Jul 2015
Microsoft is struggling to finalize work on Windows 10 this week, and the company is now planning to release a new build for Windows insiders that would let them try out the latest improvements it made to the operating system before the big launch on July 29.
Microsoft’s Brandon LeBlanc has confirmed in a post on the official Windows blog that a new Windows 10 build is coming for insiders this week, pointing out that it would include the Groove app that’s replacing Xbox Music in the new operating system.
“We’ve kept a keen eye on our existing entertainment fans to make sure the experiences which they enjoy and subscribe to today, will continue without any interruptions. Here’s a quick overview of the new features you’ll find with both apps in the build coming to Windows Insiders this week,” he writes.
But while it aims to hit RTM this Thursday, Microsoft has also confirmed that it will roll out at least one more build before the end of the week. The latest available build is 10162, which the company released last Thursday.

Finalized feature wise. They will finalize what they send to the OEM for installing on new PC's. They'll still keep looking for bugs and squashing any they find after that. They may even do up another build for insiders. What ever has to be fixed in the RTM after its released to the OEM will be via Windows updates. What ever build get sent to consumers on the 29th will also likely be released to the OEM, if its a newer build. I wonder if the RTM build will show up on MSDN? It has in the past so the IT types can play with it. With the Insider program on the go though, that may not happen.

"Microsoft is planning to release the final update for the Windows 10 Technical Preview this week, before finalising the Ready to Manufacture version for later this week. That means, subject to something going drastically wrong with the final update, Windows 10 will be complete and ready to ship this Thursday, July 9th.
The currently available build of Windows 10 is version 10162, but Microsoft has plans to squeeze in another update between now and Thursday. The contents of the update are still a little hazy, but Microsoft is promising the integration of a pair of new apps. We know that Xbox Music is no more, and will be renamed Groove, while Xbox Video has now been rebranded the Movies and TV App to avoid confusion."
