@larc919 ... I did a check for updates on my Release Preview build last evening. It was on 10586.494. It downloaded and installed 14393.5. It flipped my Release Preview RTM into Insider. Still on Release Preview ring.
I have different areas showing I'm on 14393.0 and some showing 14393.5. So I don't know what version I'm on now either.

Anything 10585.494 wasn't any Redstone 1 build but last November's Threshold 2 update now seeing the latest update package rolled in with it. The RS1 builds see 14xxx with the latest Insider being the 14393.5 for those who remained on the Fast ring. f14tomcat simply went from the November 12th plus all cumulative updates wrapped into it to the latest RS1 Insider build which now proceeds the next major Redstone 1 Anniversary update due in a few more days.

As far as the 14393 and 14393.5 that was a second build that immediately followed the first a day later likely seeing a quick patch made and apparently now the only build to be seen prior to next tuesday's RS1 update. As for the Anniversary update itself the only thing some have now would be equal the preview of but still not the General released RS1 update which still needs to be uploaded next tuesday. Likewise the TH2 saw it's own preview two weeks before that became a general release.

Will we need to downgrade to the Release Level update in order to receive the RTM? Also I am seeing this build on buildfeed.net

    Major version 10

    Minor version

    Build number 14894

    Build revision 1000

Any new information here. I have not yet received the cumulative update for 14393.5

All of that is true, but keep in mind I had that build (14586.494) on Release Preview ring. And after the update to 14393.5, it remained on the Release Preview ring.

I am resetting Windows Insider to the Release Preview which makes sense to me since RTM is two days away.

I still have the 14385 on the main here and will simply be seeing the RS1 go on by way of the WU on the 2nd as a regular updated. The 14393.5 on the second test machine will also be seeing the same end result while that will remain in the Fast ring there.

14586??? more like 10586 for the Threshold 2 update released last November on the 12th of the month. The subsequent extension number changes on the end of 10586.xxx are simply indicators of how many additional loose updates since are included with any newer downloads since that time. It becomes much like a Service Pack type download without the SP where a ton of updates are rolled up into a large download. With 10 you simply see the same build rolled up with everything out since the 12th.

The 14393.5 replaced the 14393 on the next day which has caused some confusion since there was a fast fix of something for the 393 rushed out as the last Insider build to now proceed Tuesday's update which will be a major RTM release. All new pcs, laptops, tablets coming out in August and September for example will now see that instead of the 10586 TH2 update. Have a laptop bought in January with the TH2 there while being a Sept. 2015 brand new model simply by being sold after the last update was out.

As for the MC Tool downloads those now show 10586.499 not 494. As for Insider build expiration dates the best most recent MS Answers Wiki information found can be looked over which reveals some builds are seeing permanent activation status. The listing of all builds is seen at Complete list of Windows Insider build numbers and what happens when a build reaches its expiration date

I am now downloading a MC Tool ISO. After I burn that I'll run it again and see if it updates my. I'm not getting anything from WU so I changed my mind. If you are getting a build 10586.499 that seems a bit strange since the 14xxxx series has been out for a few months. Confusing to say the least. BF has 13 (!!) builds for the 14493 series - not counting 14393.5.
I suppose the betting money would be 10586.500 for Tuesday. There are many unanswered questions about the status of the Insider program after that - guess we have to wait
