Will we need to downgrade to the Release Level update in order to receive the RTM? Also I am seeing this build on buildfeed.net

    Major version 10

    Minor version

    Build number 14894

    Build revision 1000

Any new information here. I have not yet received the cumulative update for 14393.5
14894 is an internal MS build for RS2 next year. It will not be released as RS1. Whether we as Insiders specifically see it or not after RS1 remains to be seen. My guess is we will see a build with higher number than that.

I agree.. some time down the road I suspect we'll get a new insider build and the number will be larger.

At this point I don't know what MS can really add, GUI wise. New features to existing tools but what else are they planning is going to be fun to find out.

As for the MC Tool downloads those now show 10586.499 not 494. As for Insider build expiration dates the best most recent MS Answers Wiki information found can be looked over which reveals some builds are seeing permanent activation status. The listing of all builds is seen at Complete list of Windows Insider build numbers and what happens when a build reaches its expiration date
I am now downloading a MC Tool ISO. After I burn that I'll run it again and see if it updates my. I'm not getting anything from WU so I changed my mind. If you are getting a build 10586.499 that seems a bit strange since the 14xxxx series has been out for a few months. Confusing to say the least. BF has 13 (!!) builds for the 14493 series - not counting 14393.5.
I suppose the betting money would be 10586.500 for Tuesday. There are many unanswered questions about the status of the Insider program after that - guess we have to wait
The MCT up until the Anniversary update is out would only be downloading the Threshold 2 in whichever form as far as how far along the loose updates are to be wrapped up with it. The ".499" would indicate that download includes the few latest updates as well as what others had come out since last November. The 14xxx numbers are for Insider and no other builds there.

Sorry Night Hawk! It was a typo....happens to all of us.
When bouncing back and forth between RTM and Insider numbers get boggled a bit at times! The TH2 however will always 10585 version 1511 while everything now sees the version 1607 and soon to be seeing 15xxx not 14xxx which is how I suspect he update now due will be numbered. MS waited until after the TH2 was out before when changing from 10xxx to the 14xxx numbering and why I have the suspicion that they may boost it again for RS1 and post RS1 update builds.
