Pulling the plug and removing the battery will grantee your PC isn't in sleep or hibernate mode due to things like Windows Fast Startup.

You don't need an Internet connection to install Windows. Some options won't be available like "check for updates" during setup. No sync function either for your settings and personalization that is tied to your Microsoft ID. And maybe a few other things, no show stoppers that I'm aware of though.

@tracit99 Look here %ProgramData%\Microsoft\User Account Pictures\ and here %appdata%\Microsoft\Windows\AccountPictures delete all the "doughboys". Back them up somewhere first.

I found this at [Windows Tip] Remove User Picture from Login Screen / Start Menu - AskVG
@f14tomcat thanks for the tip. I have seen this method in several places and it works except for builds 14371 and onward. MS in their continuous meddling apparently has changed where they source the default user account picture for the login screen in these later builds. Hopefully someone will find the new source and let us know. Last week I posted a comment concerning this change at AskVG.

I see the tweet in this reply, but it didn't show up for me in the thread. Something doesn't seem to be right with Edge today.

Wynona, tweets when posted or quoted do normally show only after you refresh the page. Before refreshing they are not visible. (Please do not ask why...)

    Nothing to do with Edge.

I'll be doing at least one upgrade, just to see first hand how it goes, what menu's show up etc. And at least one clean install for the same reasons. I have two laptops and two desktop PC's. One 10 Enterprise install that the only option is a clean install, as far as I know. One 10 Education install, one 10 Pro install and one running the current Insider build. And almost forgot, one XBOX ONE that will be an upgrade. That should keep me busy for a while.

In IE I'll seed double (duplicate) posts if somebody posts while I'm typing in a post. If I hit F5 and do a refresh the doubles disappear.
