I tried to do an update from 10061 and it failed twice. I ended up doing a clean install. I got an email in my Windows 7 asking me if I wanted to update Win 7 to 10 now?

I'm gonna clean install tomorrow. Went the upgrade route and now my start menu either locks open and refuses to close, or refuses to open from time to time.

I thought that as the today's date can also be seen in notification area (screenshot, bottom right) as 28/4/2015 I don't have to explain it :).
Oh, yes ya do, Kari! You know all us US peeps got it all backards.

This is getting really frustrating! I just downloaded the EN_US 64x Pro esd file directly from www.osbetaarchive.net site, got the same esd file as before, and again, attempt to create an ISO failed with Error:13 - The data file is invalid.

Actually, maybe I'm doing it wrong. I'm downloading the files from inside Win8.1 and attempting to create the ISO from inside there as well. Do I need to be inside Win10 while I'm doing this?
Mark, I'm getting my ISO from the first link (64 bit US) in Post 55 on Page 6. When you click on the Mega ISO link, you have to install an add-on to download more than 1 GB. I did that, but am downloading from a 10049 machine and of course, WU didn't wait its turn to download updates, as it should have, so it's going a bit slow until WU finishes its DL.

Please geeks calm down! The links are valid, for files on Microsoft servers. If your download fails and you fail to create the ISO, keep trying. This is for sure: The ESD files are valid, the tool in tutorial thread works, and you can install Windows 10 Buil 10074 with the ISO you have created with the tool.

Ya think? I don't know what I did wrong, but for now, my HP 500-056 desktop is a doorstop.

As Mark has said, I've done this several times, but this time when I tried to boot from the flash drive, nothing happened and now I cannot boot into either Windows partition.

And yes, I did it exactly as before . . . But for now, I'm toast. Downloading the ISO now.

I tried 3 times (en-GB, 32 bit) and the first 2 times the download appeared to finish normally, but the ESD was clearly too small.

3rd time I have an ESD file with a size that's more likely (1,945,501,762 bytes) and the ESD to ISO tool didn't crash (the created ISO is 2,705,774,592 bytes), but I'm still not sure if the download worked.

Is there a way to check it?

If All goes well I will load 10074 on to a machine I picked up this past weekend at a yard sale. Not a bad computer, came with a 500 gig HDD (ugh will have to get a SSD this Friday), An Intel Q9300 Quad (2.5 gigz CPU) plus the usual stuff. Oh Boy fun stuff to do. . .
