I swear I did turn the silly thing back on because I saw its little blue light go solid. It's an Acer LED, a few years old. Tech said he even left it on quite awhile to be sure it wasn't overheating.

The only thing I can think of (and I asked and he agreed it might be) is that I may have pressed one of the buttons on the bottom of the screen and it happened to turn off the DVI. I did have to turn DVI on the other monitor when I connected it, so I guess there's a DVI button . . . Dunno.

The problem is, though, that I know I never touched even one button on the bottom when things first went South. The monitor is at least arm's length away from me and the "box" is sitting in a cubby underneath my desk when everything's set up properly.
After reminding you to make sure to turn the power on last night, I wanted to follow it up to make sure that you have the DVI input selected and not VGA, etc. I guess that was the problem.

Could have been, Robot, but I know for a fact that the DVI input had not been changed when the issue first cropped up. I use computer glasses made especially for the monitor being just a tad more than arm's length away from me, so it would have had to be a conscious effort to change the DVI input.

Once I had changed monitors, thus, moving this one over, I could have changed the DVI input without knowing it. The guy at the computer shop said he didn't change any of the buttons, though . . . in fact, he didn't do anything more than hook it up to a computer to start troubleshooting. FWIW, there are six buttons at the bottom of the screen and I haven't a clue as to where the booklet to the monitor is, or I would look at it.

For me, it will be one of those things I will never be able to explain. When I hooked up the VGA cable, the monitor worked. I can say I didn't change any of the buttons, but StarFerret says I had to do something or it wouldn't have happened. Sigh . . .

Thanks Dude. Now we put the issue to bed, knowing something happened, but not what it was or how.
