I agree - I had to dump 10061 because of issues with start and menu not working correctly. Now with a clean install of this version (10074) I feel that Windows 10 is a keeper once again! Seems much more robust and seems to work faster than 10061. I have an issue with the PEOPLE application - doesn't stay open when I click on icon. Anyone else experience this?
People app is the only one that is still suffering from a mild case of the flu! Sometimes it will TRY to start, the a few seconds later poop-out. New Mail, Calendar, and People app are tied together. I have my Calendar app and Mail app associated with my Gmail account and Facebook account (thru Gmail), and the People app will sometimes display the name of one of my buddies on Facebook briefly in white letters on a blue background, then about 2-3 seconds later, SPLAT! It is a known issue at MS.

Wow! Spartan brought me right back to this page after a restart.

While I was clean installing Build 10074 over here, the other laptop stealth installed it over Build 9926! So I have one with a clean install and one with an update.

The desktop is in the hospital after I hosed it.

Same thing happened to me. I did not get the heads up that slow ring and fast ring both was updating the same day. All went very smooth without me watching over it.

    This might just work:

Install Windows normally until you reach the first of setup dialogs, the Settings screen:Do not click anything, instead press CTRL + SHIFT + F3. Windows reboots now to a so called Audit Mode, a special Windows customization mode using the built-in administrator account and a basic Windows display driver.

When in Audit Mode desktop close the Sysprep dialog by clicking the Cancel button, it will be shown in the middle of the desktop:
Spartan does not work in Audit Mode, nor does any other Modern apps so you need to start Internet Explorer. Do this by pressing WIN + R to open the Run dialog, type iexplore.exe and press Enter:IE opens now. Go to Intel® Driver Update Utility page, download and install the Intel Driver Detection Tool and run it. It checks your system and installs the best possible driver for your Intel GPU. If Windows needs to restart after the installation, do it normally, Windows automatically returns to Audit Mode. This time when you see the Sysprep dialog again in the middle of the screen, click OK.

If no reboot was needed after the Intel GPU driver installation, right click the Start button, open Command Prompt and type the following command and press Enter:
    Code:
    %windir%\system32\sysprep\sysprep.exe /oobe /reboot
Windows exits now the Audit Mode, you will be taken back where you started, the Settings dialog and can now continue the installation. The best possible Intel driver for your GPU should now be installed, Windows will not try to replace it.

Let us know if this worked.

Thanks Kari, hadn't thought to go into Audit mode. I will try it out when I get home. There is also the added advantage that Windows Update doesn't function in audit mode, so that should work in my favour. Thanks again

Finally got round to installing 10074 into a VM on a partition on my SSD and I'm very impressed. It's lightning fast, even in a virtual environment, and things are looming much more polished. Still a couple of bugs (Start hanging once in a while, images on tiles moving across so half of it disappears of the edge of the tile) but nothing that breaks it that I've found so far. If RTM was released looking like this I'd be happy.

No dice.... Intel Driver Update Utility only comes up with drivers for the WiFi card... Tried installing direct from Intel Download centre under Audit, no dice. Interesting, I downloaded the Dell drivers for it (not the Intel reference drivers), and they installed, and asked for reboot, but no change. Still laggy display and Microsoft Basic Display Driver. Sigh. Thanks anyway

10074 went on painlessly in about half an hour, and I got a warning first. I chose to delay one hour, finished what I was doing and restarted to initiate the update. Last update, there was no warning, so thanks, Microsoft, things are looking good.

Strange. That's the utility I use, in Audit Mode when preparing the install image. Have always worked for me.

I think its because officially Intel doesnt support Win10, and the MS driver screws it up... But if you have any more ideas, I do know that I can get in via remote desktop when the screen is black like it is right now

Did a clean install on my laptop. Cortana is messed up. All I get is an empty white box. Took me a while to figure out how to turn her off. Now it just says Cortana can't help you in your region. I have my region set to Canada. I have a second screen hooked up via USB 3. On boot up my start screen is displayed on that screen instead of the laptops main screen. The laptop screen is set as the main screen. The search function showing web results is starting to piss me off. I set the group policy but must have set the wrong one. I had a bunch of failed Windows updates, after a couple of retries they look like they updated OK. I'll have to go in and look at the update history to confirm.
Is there a way to have just the Start Screen show without the side menu on the left. Like it is in Windows 8.1? I enabled tablet mode but didn't see any difference?
