I decided to try upgrading a copy of my W8.1 Pro installation to W10 Build 10074 just to see how things work. Other than the expected loss of Media Center all my other Apps and programs work normally. So far there are no glitches, but I can't imagine there won't be some.
One of the oddities in Settings got its explanation, at least I thinks so, just now when I was working on Visual Studio trying to modify my own Calendar / Contacts desktop app I had done for my personal use in Windows 7. Opened the project file in Visual Studio, made the changes I figured out I need to make in order to convert it to a "Universal Windows App", then when trying to debug first time I got this:
Don't know how to continue; Start Menu > Settings > Update & Recovery has this For Developers entry on the left pane but it's empty, showing nothing, and the Settings app at least in my case shuts down as soon as I click For Developers.
I agree - I had to dump 10061 because of issues with start and menu not working correctly. Now with a clean install of this version (10074) I feel that Windows 10 is a keeper once again! Seems much more robust and seems to work faster than 10061. I have an issue with the PEOPLE application - doesn't stay open when I click on icon. Anyone else experience this?
Sigh. I still can't run Windows 10 at all. The forced Windows Update Intel Graphics driver (for the 5500 card in the i7-5500u) gives me a black screen, no cursor no nothing. Without a way to block this, and get a working driver, I can't run it at all. I haven't been able to get any build of 10 running.
Does anybody have an i7-5500u that has a working driver for 10? Pretty please?
I can't help you with driver, but wanted to know if this is a clean install or download? I had problem with nvidia driver not downloading correctly on one of my computers. It ran build 6626 but nothing since because of driver download failure it continued to try over and over. You might try a clean install and see if issue recurs. Good luck!
