TechRepublic - Microsoft doesn't have to give US government foreign data, says courtOn Thursday, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in New York ruled that Microsoft and other tech companies could not be ordered to turn over customer data stored on servers outside of the US.
"We conclude that § 2703 of the Stored Communications Act does not authorize courts to issue and enforce against U.S.-based service providers warrants for the seizure of customer e-mail content that is stored exclusively on foreign servers," the decision said.
