Buildfeed.net is up to 14391. I wonder if we have any indication about what the build number for Anniversary RTM will be? More importanly will they still continue compiling after RTM or will the Insider program be on hiatus?

What on earth has happened? Hyper-V was working OK yesterday, today when launched from Start I get this:

Announcing Windows 10 Insider Preview Build 14388 for PC and Mobile-2016_07_15_10_23_561.png

(Sorry the screenshot quality, can't take normal screenshots when UAC prompts are shown.)

I am admin, built-in admin has never been enabled on this machine. Only Group Policy edited and enabled by me is Start Layout, forcing preset Start for each user. All other user accounts are standard.

I can of course run Hyper-V without issues launching it from elevated PowerShell or Command Prompt with %windir%\System32\mmc.exe "%windir%\System32\virtmgmt.msc", but I would prefer to launch it from Start and Quick Launch as usual.

So, there are still some surprises under the hood in this build.

I was going to report a really smooth build. Just everything works for me. No more AMD driver glitches that were here in last two builds,
    - Edge is almost ready for default browser (I can finally copy and paste here in quick answers), just to get WOT extension...
    - spell checker is working better then anywhere else (no OS has this), change of spell language based on display language, not keyboard layout and is dynamically changed when language is changed!
    - no critical stops and errors in two days! Not even an app! (OK, just Edge in the first session)

    no complaints here :)

I have not a faintest clue what had happened but a simple system restore with a restore point from yesterday evening, all is well again.

It's crazy that MS default system restore to off when it often solves some inexplicable issue that suddenly pops up.

I have never seen any justification as to why they decided the default should be off.

    Hi,

I have never seen any justification as to why they decided the default should be off.
If they'd set it to ON, how much space should it then allocate to itself ?

I don't mind that it's set to OFF as default. What would be nice though is an automated notification after install has finished to remind the user about the status of System Restore. After all we all get notifications about lots of stuff that's really not important to anyone I can imagine, right ?

    Cheers,

FYI, this is 14388 upgraded from 14385. The System restore for drive C: was on after upgrade as I had set it in before the upgrade, no issues there, nothing to complain.

This latest build has caused havoc with Edge.....on high speed cable, ten seconds to open pages whilst browsing, IE much quicker...could it be due to extensions perhaps?
Have installed Google Chrome which puts in the shade the two afore mentioned M$ browsers, instant downloads....scannow reports no violations.

I was a little to quick with reporting everything OK. Atikmpag.sys just caused another BSOD after waking from sleep.
