You might want to check your office program for updates at this time. 2016 office has some.
Yeah it did (7070.2026). Funny how on my wife's computer, Windows update downloads the patches for Office 2010 but my computer with Office 2016... I have to do it manually.

You'd think checking the box would be all that's required, but I suppose not. I opened a thread on the MS forums, but nobody there could help me. I just got the typical robotic response telling me to do all the things that I'd already tried

Mods - sorry if it sounds like I'm complaining about Microsoft... I'm not. I just think it's a bit of a weird thing that I've encountered here, that's all.

Yeah, took ages for me in the UK too (Phone was OK, just PC that was slow). The problem is it downloads a bit, stops, then does nothing for ages. Then downloads a bit more, stops, does nothing for ages. Etc. It does eventually get there though. The IP addresses the updates were coming from were Level 3 Communications IP addresses (8.253.0.0 - 8.253.255.255 range).

Finally, after running ComponentCleanup (ResetBase), it started downloading and I got it in about 20 minutes.

Checked for updates in the morning - updated defender. A mixture of use and sleeping in the afternoon and on seeing this topic checked and it had already downloaded/installed and was awaiting a reboot to finish. So unlike many people here, it had completed before I even knew it existed

It stopped dead at 0% on my system. The whole thing is just sitting there.
