Interesting.
Firefox still my fav, but Edge is improving!
Here's a question that faces every Windows 10 user: do you download a third-party browser or stick with the Internet Explorer and Edge browsers that Microsoft has provided?
The browsers
In this test, we have taken five browsers - Chrome (v51.0), Opera (v38), Firefox (v47), as well as the bundled Edge (v25.10586) and Internet Explorer (v11.420) browsers - and tested them using five of the most popular benchmarks to find out which is the best and worst browser.

The tests
Here are the tests:
- JetStream 1.1: A JavaScript benchmark suite focused on the most advanced web applications. Larger scores are better.
- Kraken 1.1: An updated version of the SunSpider benchmark. Lower scores are better.
- Octane 2.0: A modern benchmark that measures a JavaScript engine's performance by running a suite of tests representative of today's complex and demanding web applications. Larger scores are better.
- RoboHornet: A benchmark designed around performance pain points real web developers care about. Larger scores are better.
- HTML5test: A benchmark that tests how well a browser supports the HTML5 standard and related specifications. Larger scores are better, and the top score possible is 555.
Test hardware
I carried out the tests on a Huawei MateBook with a 1.51GHz Intel Core m3 processor and 4GB of RAM. The system runs Windows 10 Home.
The device was plugged in for the tests, and all power-saving options were switched off.
The results
Here are the raw results, which are an average of three runs...

No brainier ...:
Chrome
- JetStream 1.1: 125.12
- Kraken 1.1: 1371.7 ✔
- Octane 2.0: 21123 ✔
- RoboHornet: Did not run
- HTML 5 Test: 526 ✔
Yandex browser (Chromium based made by Russian "Google")
JetStream 1.1: 84.946
Kraken 1.1: 2755.1
Octane 2.0: 14455
RoboHornet: 113.23
HTML 5 Test: 521
Well the scores are the worst compared to all others. But I use it because of those integrated features: Kaspersky download scanner, Sophos DNS filter, payment protected mode, phishing protection, flashblock, dnscrypt with a switchable DNS and a few others, I do not use like Opera Turbo or AdGuard. Not to mention, that it is fast and simple (subjective), compatible with Chrome and Opera extensions and uses Yandex for sync instead of Google.
Firefox:
JetStream 1.1: 100.95
Kraken 1.1: 2020.5ms
Octane 2.0: 17080
RoboHornet: 98.08
HTML 5 Test: 478
iexplore:
JetStream 1.1: 80.317
Kraken 1.1: 3596.2ms
Octane 2.0: 9727
RoboHornet: 94.72
HTML 5 Test: 343
Edge:
JetStream 1.1: 124.42
Kraken 1.1: 2003.8ms
Octane 2.0: 18812
RoboHornet: 85.12
HTML 5 Test: 453
Overall Firefox got 3/5 and Edge got 2/5 with iexplore not doing so well in my test. After Aug 02 update I will test Edge again to see if it will do better that Firefox.
Thanks for posting this test Brink.
cheers
Interesting. Chrome continues to be my favorite browser, but there have been some interesting articles lately encouraging for the future of Edge.
On my system, identical apps running other than single instance of either Chrome or Edge.
Chrome 64-bit 51.0.2704.106
Edge 38.14372.0.0
Scores listed Chrome / Edge
JetStream: 141.18 / 173.20
Kraken: 1,443.6 / 1,623.0
Octane: 23,024 / 25,298
RoboHornet: Chrome Crashed 3x / RH-A1 0123.97 Raw Score 111,258.63
html5test: 521 / 474
I rarely use Edge and don't have any extensions installed.
For Chrome, I have Black Menu for Google, LastPass and uBlock Origin enabled extensions.
I'm guessing uBlock killed the RoboHornet test in Chrome. Also, I didn't wipe any caches prior to using.
Edge beat Chrome in JetStream and Octane while Chrome won in Kraken and html5test.
Since Chrome couldn't complete RoboHornet, I'll play favorites and declare it a draw due to insufficient information.
I'm not ready to switch to Edge, but it looks promising. Once there are more extensions I like, then I'm going to give Edge a real test drive.
For me I don't care about test result. I prefer Pale Moon\Firefox. Even though Edge has come a long way in the Insider release I still don't see it being my main browser. I also feel MS should have waited until Edge was more improved before releasing it to the general public.
Personally I prefer Firefox, but that could be because I've used it for around 10 years and am more familiar wiith it.
I use Edge occasionally but can't seem to be able to get used to it, I prefer IE over Edge. Chrome I don't like full stop.
For some reason I can't scroll smoothly in Edge, perhaps someone here could give me some tips on that?
Been running the 64bit Waterfox variant of FF, the latest as well as most recent FF as well along with Cyberfox variant, Chrome is on along with the latest Opera, Pale Moon, IE11 has been enabled all along, and even have a classic oldie with Netscape Navigator 9 running well on 10! And that's without any AOL there.
Waterfox gets: Jetstream-105.26 Kraken-1899.6ms Octane 2.0-17767 RoboHornet Alpha-0079.51 HTML5Test-493 out of 555 points
