Using a SAMSUNG 961 PCIe x 4 SSD and to HHDs in a Storage Space configuration, Windows Build 14379 takes about 30 seconds to start up. Deleting Storage Spaces it boots up in 3 seconds
There's no previous version, Trucker. When Build 14372 crashed, I had to do a clean install of everything. Before, I could sign into FF and my bookmarks were restored, but so far, I haven't seen a way to sign into the latest version.
Edit: I found a way to sign in, but it seems that I'm no longer recognized.
Oh, well, they're gone and I'm not going to spend any more time on it.
I'm going to get a password manager and go from there.
The problems I had in the other preview builds have been sorted in the new build
so everything peachy here.
You ain't gonna believe this, Trucker, but they're gone on Lappy too!
I'm thinking that since Microsoft automatically syncs everything I have together, what happens to one will happen to all! I know that when I change backgrounds on one computer, backgrounds are changed on everything! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
My next project is to un-sync everything in the house! I'm not letting this happen again!
I'm late to this discussion (had a week off). Did you tried to refresh FF? And perhaps dig a little deeper and try to troubleshoot syncing in FF.
Don't forget that you had a rootkit on your PC and it may need a little more action for full recovery.
Yes, and when the dust settled, Andre, a clean install was in order . . . which was accomplished without incident except that I had installed 14352 (it was handy), which refused to see the update to 14372, so I clean installed that after Lappy provided the ISO file via ESD to ISO. However, the bookmarks were gone before ALL that happened. And yeah, the rootkit "could" have taken them out, but probably not.
I have done everything everyone has suggested, and still no bookmarks. In the meantime, I tried Edge again. Thus far, it meets my requirements, and has been OK. I'm not a browser power user. :) So, this morning I decided to start adding bookmarks just to see how that would go.
Imagine my surprise when I clicked on Bookmarks, and there was my saved listing! Don't get excited . . . every "bookmark folder" was empty and there were sometimes two and even three of the same folder, but at least I have a pattern to go by.
So, I've spent what I'll consider quality time deleting duplicate folders and older things I no longer have an interest in. My list is much shorter now, and I'll just start to "refill" it as the need arises. Once that's done, I will, of course, import the list to Firefox.
Although, I'm finding I kinda like the way Edge is going. I will probably spend more time getting to know its capabilities and how to back up my bookmarks! In both Edge and Firefox!
Thanks everyone for trying to help. It has been a learning experience I hope not to repeat. I am moving on, and it's very possible I will leave Firefox behind. Only time will tell.
Case closed with no apparent solution!
