I'm the same. Not a fan of all the cloud stuff. I keep my data locally stored on HD/SSD and backed up in triplicate across three different NAS drives. For external / remote access to my local files I have FTP enabled on one of the NAS drives as well as the handy WD app so my iOS devices can get stuff if needed.
And what happens if you get a Ransomware attack that encrypts all your devices? Do you keep at least one copy "offline"? What happens if there's a fire at your house? What happens if you delete some data and don't realize it until after your backups are overwritten? OneDrive has file versioning, and can't be affected by Ransomware.

The one thing that makes me most nervy about cloud data is if the provider goes offline/server problems. Unfortunately my iPhone is so cloud reliant it would literally become a paperweight if Apple dropped the ball. I'm still unsure what would happen if MS servers were down when I try to login to my Windows desktop what with having to login via the MS account. I don't want to unplug the internet to test it out in case it has a bad side effect but surely it does some sort of handshake/call to MS when logging in.
If your data is also local, then there's nothing to worry about. If the MS authentication servers are offline (or your internet is down) you can still log in because credentials are cached locally. Just unplug your computer from the net and try it yourself.

    Scan found nothing.
Might give SUPERAntiSpyware a go. It finds a lot that Malwarebytes does not.

Installed Release Preview of 14393 last night, got .5 during the install, only update afterwards besides app updates was Defender definition update. (though before I rebooted to even get machine in Insider Preview, it somehow removed my WHQL AMD video drivers 16.7.3 and put in 16.6 from Windows Update.

Is it safe to reinstall those now?

or should I wait til after Tuesday and do a system reset or clean install, and then fix up machine items then
I installed from ISO via thumb drive yesterday 3/aug/16. It did just that to my AMD driver too - I reinstalled 16.7.3

After installing the Win 10 Anniversary Update yesterday, in Notifications the compatibility assistant states that the "Intel usb 3.0 extensible host controller driver app" is no longer available. Is this anything I should be concerned about? Have yet to notice any issues.

No exclamation marks showing in the Device Manager.

My Mobo is an MSI Z97 Gaming 5.

Only OneDrive for Business has file versioning for all file types (as does DropBox).

The normal OneDrive only has versioning for Office type documents (.docx etc) which means other file types can be affected by Ransomware.

You can vote for inclusion of this functionality here: Enable file versioning / history for all types of files (not just Office types) Feature Suggestions for Microsoft OneDrive

Nigel you're doing a great job on this thread, helping everyone:)
To bad it's the News thread and one can't rep

As for me, I was the first in the forums with my desktop to get the upgrade through Windows Update, and everything went smooth.

I got the ISO using MCT for my six year old laptop, and that went very well.

Now on my desktop, Edge runs well, and all but one extension, that I have on my Insider Preview virtual machine(that must remain unnamed) installed. It not only say's installed, when it's not, Edge is also giving serious errors in Reliability History, but, it is running well.

I decided to mount the ISO and do a repair install to see if that fixes the problem.

It shouldn't take long, but until then I'm stuck on my Crappy-Lappy.

Hi orlbuckeye, thanks for your posting. I did try that but the AU upgrade still failed. Eventually I found this article from How to Upgrade to Windows 10 Anniversary Update version 1607 using ISO - Microsoft Community after following this step "If you are upgrading using the .ISO file, disconnect from the Internet during setup, if you are connected by LAN (Ethernet) or Wi-Fi, disable both then attempt setup again" the AU upgraded successfully. Hope this will helps others that encountered this problem. Thanks & regards...

Strange. I updated 2 desktops and 1 laptop, all with Classic Shell 4.3.0. No problems on any of them.
