You can run it "unactivated" it will time out and go into reduced functionality mode in a short while though. You'll also be reminded to activate etc, etc. What I meant by "activation is required" is they don't just auto activate like they did when the Insider program first started. Insider Previews have the same activation requirements as the Consumer Edition.
Yes I undersand that - my point was that the upgrades for the Insider versions on Fast Ring come so thick and fast, (allegedly) you never actually get to go into RFM as the "timeclock" restarts afresh. On other forums, some users say they have been doing it like that for over six months.

I get what your saying. The time clock is a count down to when activation times out. If your already not activated I don't think it matters? I think your going to get nagged to activate anyway. Reduced functionality will likely kick in too, Requardless of the time clock. That's what I would expect to happen? I'd have to install the Home version to test it out myself. All my PC's have Digital Entitlements for Pro. I'm not into VM's either. Interesting stuff. I may do an unactivated install myself on my spare tower to see first hand what happens.

What ISO from where? I just want to know, for reference.

EDIT: Also, did you boot from that ISO or run setup exe from windows?
I got it via Microsoft (downloaded 2016-04-28).

    The ISO:
    Win10_1511_1_SingleLang_EnglishInternational_x64.iso

I had to make a few selections and the site created one of those "personal" download links (good for a limited time; 24 hours?).
The link doesn't work now though (obviously):
    http://software-download.microsoft.c...4286e13fd361f3

Since I was trying to do an inplace upgrade, I tried running it from inside W7.
I also tried running it directly from the DVD.

If you attempt to do an in-place upgrade to an edition of Windows 10 that is not compatible with your installed edition of Windows, then it will get stuck at the product key screen with no way to skip. A clean install, however, won't do that.
So the issue was caused by me trying to install the W10 Home International version?
I guess W7 Home Premium must have been the US version.

    The ISO: Win10_1511_1_SingleLang_EnglishInternational_x64.iso

You should have picked the English version of 10 Home x64 if you have 7 Home Premium. I did 3 computers this week, a 7,8 and 8.1. On all of them, I put the ISO on the desktop and ran an in-place Upgrade by directly mounting it (no DVD or USB). All 3 completed in 30-45 mins with zero problems.

More likely your Windows 7 Home Premium was standard, multi-language Windows 7 and not Windows 7 single language. Then you tried to upgrade to Windows 10 Single Language - which is not compatible with just plain Windows 7. If you run winver, or open a Command Prompt (Admin) [right click on the start icon] and run slmgr /dlv in the command prompt windows, I'll bet you don't see anything about Single Language edition listed in the version you have activated.

This is what you will now see when arriving there instead of the immediate upgrade online and MC Tool options when scrolling the page as expected.

    Buy Windows 10

Windows 10 is the best Windows ever and the full version is still available as it always has been. Get Windows and start doing great things.

    Buy now
No option to download anything was the point I was trying to make before. The revision would the offer now expired is the conversion to purchase only.

Now for anyone who has already seen 10 activated on one machine or another you should be able to download the TH2 and see that updated to RS1 by way of the WU following a clean install coming in as one of the updates. The initial 11/12 arrived following the Insider flavor of same that came in two weeks prior and why these last few builds have been the Preview form for the RS1 Anniversary update itself. Super Tuesday for 10 soon to be here fortunately!

I think its already been answered but I asked originally so I'll reply. Looks like a version miss match to me. You should have used the non Single Language ISO. At the Moment its just called Windows 10 and is Multi edition, Home and Pro.
I just went here, http://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/softw...load/windows10 and the MCT is still working. I downloaded the Tool and Ran it.
