This is disgusting on a core level. The only reason I got W10 Pro is because of gpedit and being able to remove unnecessary things/adware/crapware/etc

This is nearing bait and switch.

    Thanks NavyLCDR & alphanumeric.

    You are correct. :)
    I see what happened now.
I checked to see what version of W10 was equivalent to W7 Home Premium (which was Home).
When I was selecting the options the only one that displayed "Home", was "Windows 10 Home Single Language".

    Incorrect.
I downloaded the 32 bit ISO and the 64 bit ISO.

    Agreed.
When I ran the MCT (about an hour ago) that is what I saw too.
Apparently that was only just changed lately then upon the RS1 arrival since all of the rest of the time the Single Language edition has been 32bit only. I found that out when downloading it and ran into 32bit only as previously specified on the download page for it once selected from the menu.

When going to look at the Get 10 page not the MS Download Center link for 7, 8.1, 10 posted but the link changed to retail purchase the "verify product key" requirement was in plain sight. That was below the download button on the same page. Seems like each person is ending up on a separate page entirely.

And don't forget the Insider newsletter links there. For the Insider anniversary some GIF and wallpaper files.

There is already a thread about this, which you have already commented on. There is no reason to duplicate it in other threads.

Having said that, the title of the article is misleading. MS has not removed all policies from Pro. MS has changed a FEW policies to only apply to Enterprise/Education and Server versions. There is no "bait and switch" here.

    @ Night Hawk
They have changed the MCT now that the free upgrade offer has expired. There used to be a checkbox at the bottom for "use recommended settings for this PC" something like that. It would auto select the correct version based on the OS installed on the PC you ran the tool on. If that PC was running 32 bit Windows, Architecture would say "32-bit (x86)". You couldn't change it either, not unless you removed the checkmark in the box at the bottom. That's gone now. It looks like it still auto detects and defaults to the matching settings. For me it defaults to English US, Windows 10, 64 bit.

Your not the only one to get caught out by that Home SL selection. I also see "why is there no Pro" posts from time to time. People think the one listed as "Windows 10" is the Home version.

    One thing that surprises me...
Microsoft has not started "seeding" the Current Branch(10586.494 as of now) computers.
I mean there is still no ~BT folder.
In the past, they started seeding, and on the day you get your upgrade, the last changes, were added to the folder, and the switch to Windows update was turned on.

I'm keeping an eye for it too but nothing yet. Wander if that also applies to insiders ?

From my past experience I don't get a pre-seed I get the ~BT folder when I get the new insider upgrade.

I have been keeping an eye on it for the last couple of weeks by leaving Hidden Items checked all the time(against my better judgment, as it can be catastrophic, if you accidently drag & drop a hidden file or folder).

Q:. Will the media creation tool for Win 10 for updaters still be available after July 29?

A: After July 29th users will be asked to enter a valid product key when upgrading for the first time from Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 through both the Windows 10 Upgrade Assistant and the Media Creation tool. Users can continue to use the Media Creation Tool to create Windows 10 installation media.
Yesterday, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed to me that Microsoft plans to make ISOs of Windows 10 Anniversary available to users on August 2, the day that Microsoft will begin making the Anniversary Update available to users on PCs, tablets, Xbox One, Surface Hub and HoloLens. (Officials recently said not everyone will be getting the bits on August 2 on all device types. The release will be staggered, they said.)

    ---------------------------------------------------------

My interpretation is a valid product key will have to be entered if you are doing an in place upgrade from Windows 7 or 8/8.1. No key required to download an ISO. It needs clarification though? Others here will likely interpret it differently. I'll be testing it out at some point so I know exactly how it works.

The last bit about new ISO's being available on the 2nd is why I posted it here though. The MCT stuff seems to be a side topic.
