    Thanks!

I made one disk image before the update using AOMEI and now that everything looks fine I plan to do another of the system as it is now.

If you decide to return to previous build, you will need to leave things intact -- then if you want to keep updated version you can delete.

If your machine is running fine and you want to remove these old windows files, you should use Disk Cleanup to remove the installation as well as old windows folder.

That's assuming Disk Cleanup will totally delete Windows.old. It won't always, although File Explorer will deny it's there. I had to boot with a 10 install DVD and use Command Prompt to delete that folder on all 3 PCs I updated.

Anyone have any idea of how long it might take to receive the anniversary upgrade through windows update?
I got it on the first day and so did a friend of mine on this forum...However, another local friend is still waiting and hasn't seen it yet on windows update...I told him about the other ways to get it now but he wants to wait until it comes down through the updater...

Go here and start the upgrade "manually": https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/...setting_client

I gave up and downloaded the ISO to upgrade my wife's PC this morning and am doing it now. Interestingly she never got the 10586 update either and we had to use ISO to upgrade using ISO for that also. Other PCs in the house update fine through Windows update. The only difference with her PC is it never had an underlying Windows license. The digital entitlement came from being an insider before Windows 10 was released at which point (last year) she left the insider program. Not sure if this is applicable to you friend or even if it is relevant.

There must be some scheduling being done by Microsoft that isn't just based on geography. I got too impatient to wait to see if it would ever turn up as I've seen threads here where people waited 6 months on 10240 and didn't get the November update.

It only takes 5 minutes to download the ISO (if you have decent Internet speed) so I'd suggest they wait until they are bored and then just download it and use that to update - it is useful to have an ISO for repairs anyway.

Just got the anniversary update and was pleasantly suprised. No Windows 8 Microsoft Account-era shenanigans here with the tiny blue link for the option microsoft did not want you to take (local account).

This screen was different with base Windows 10, with the customize link being the tiny aformentioned blue link that did not even look clickable. Glad they're returning to the path of light here.

At least they're more open about their blatant advertising. Advertising in the start menu... ridiculous...

It also appears that the adware apps "Get Office" among other things were reinstalled upon getting the update.

Cortana also no longer can be turned off it appears.

The update also returned Internet Explorer V 12.0 (AKA Edge) to my quicklaunch, which I do not appreciate.
