    Grr.

Just got back to the laptop and got this:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Available August 2-win10annivwrong.jpg

Probably because of this in WU:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Available August 2-win10defenderstuck.jpg
But I have no idea how to unstick this (still stuck at this screen 10 minutes later).

UPDATE: It just tried again, and got stuck at the same screen again. This is the same Defender definition update that came in (and probably tried again) when I got home earlier tonight. It appears to be an endless loop.

Oh no. It is now there. How did that happen?
I was assuming you only delete your "It's not there and its final!" post after half an hour or so. Was wrong, you deleted it after a minute after posting :)-

It's probably there now because you unhide it.

Decided to get the MCT instead, but...

    Windows 10

brings up a fully blank page.

I don't know what to do now...except give up and go to bed.

The Defender definitions update cleared, and now I have this in WU:

Windows 10 Anniversary Update Available August 2-win10wuuptodate.jpg
But, that happened before and those definitions started rolling after I checked again. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Clearly a sign that I'm not going to be able to get this done tonight.

Hmm... I have noticed another thing that's a bit annoying: Fast Startup was re-enabled again. I dual boot with Linux, so having Fast Startup disabled is for the best if you ever want to safely navigate and write to the Windows OS drive from a Linux system. When I had Windows 8.1, I disabled it. I then found that when I first upgraded to Windows 10, Fast Startup was re-enabled, so I disabled it again. Now I find that the Anniversary Update has yet again re-enabled Fast Startup, meaning that, yet again, I have to disable it.

Microsoft, will you please leave this setting alone if I decide to disable it, particularly due to having a dual boot system. I know what I'm doing, I know what I'm losing out on, and it's annoying to find such a setting put back to the way YOU want it instead of the way that I want it.

Sorry, had to get that off my chest. *grumble ... grumble*
Thanks I just updated and got back here to search for possible things going wrong :) Now I changed mine back to disabled. I can't be sure why but I don't like to leave this feature on.

They always turn off system restore too and erase all the old points you have! Good thing everything is working fine here.

EDIT: The login menu seems a little slow than usual but it's not that bad they can always improve that with smaller updates. I'm quite happy cause at least it did not messed everything like KB3147458 forcing me do a clean install

    I just can't sleep.

Finally managed to get to the ISO download page, though I had to use Edge to do it (!). I have a super slow connection, so this will take the rest of the night, but at least I'll have the base ISO and not have to spend 4 hours downloading again.

Now, off to research whatever this "Rufus" thing is, so I can put it on my thumb drive and go from there.
