The 390 is what downloaded here as the latest Insider. With the lack of any watermarks on the last couple of builds you know it is very close plus now reaching the 9 days left for free upgrade expiration proceeding the RS1 update by only 3 days. That last week or so is to work out any last minute bugs before anything RTM would be out. Someone at MS decided they wanted everything 100% spotless with 10 before seeing it made the finished product this time around.

Regardless of what number it ends up being it will still be the culmulative end results of all the feedback collected as well as wanting most all bugs already worked out. Nothing is ever 100% perfect however and subsequent patches will always be forth coming later.

The 385 saw the 1607 version number change as well as now having the 390 on. As I was saying before with no longer seeing the watermark that was the obvious indicator we are now looking at the RS1 builds which had already started following the 279 and 316 with the RS1 found in the numbers indicating these were the Redstone 1 Preview builds we were now going to be seeing.

14390 went on earlier tonight as the latest. That was on the second system that will continue running Insider builds. That replaced the 385 build that had quickly followed the 383 where it was noticed to no longer having any watermark displayed.

Now in comparison to the TH2 and prior build there you saw the single 10586 Insider replaced in two week's time by the TH2 update. With the end of the free upgrade offer MS has pushed out several builds in a much shorter time.

The planning suggests that MS wanted to get more people involved with 10 in order to collect a much larger volume of feedback after the 8 flop seen when first introducing the dual platform OS with 7 being the last of the single platform type. This was also a means of testing the market as well as seeing more people end up on the same MS page. "sneaky ms trick?!"

the 1607 built 14393 is the latest and there may follow another one until RS1 is released. Just bug fixes I guess....

Thank you, Grizzly. That was the only point I was trying to make with Night Hawk, that he may not have the latest build. All the history of what was or is or could be or wasn't .... it's gonna be what MS says it's gonna be. Speculation abounds. Relax, sit back, be prepared (backups) and just wait.....

Who doesn't? The main build still sees one build until the RS1 update replaces the slightly older 385 build. The second system however as I was saying before will continue seeing Insider builds for the time being while the RS1 is given a full stress test.

With 12 days left until the RS1 is out when the actual build number as far as RTM goes will be known these last few builds are only going to those last minute items being sorted out. After the 390 went on last night I then spot the "updates are now being installed" message this morning and simply saw the 393 went on with the scheduled automatic restart without even checking to see what the updates were about but came back to see it was a new build going on.

This is was another reason I simply stopped the Insider builds on the main since the time frame was suddenly vastly speeded up and would be interrupted as well as continue reinstalling a few things just about every other day. There's no time in between to even find out what if any differences would be noticeable other then for a program developer at this point.

As for these two builds for example one build one day followed by the next on the following day can easily be skipped at this point since the major concern will be with the Redstone 1 update itself. I am hoping that will run for much longer then the brief period the TH2 update was on before going buggy! I still have some additional softwares I had planned to see go on the TH2 but it didn't last long enough.
