Downloading on my Oracle VM, Toshiba laptop and my new toy, a Dell Venue 8 Pro, if and when it finally shows up there. I could do the ESDtoISO thing but I want to try all of them via the Windows Update channel.

Uck, I have to do the tablet via Windows Update as it's 32 bit and my others are both 64 bit. I hope once the Defender update installs the IP 14376 shows up there.

Edit: Defender update kept failing. I unchecked Give me updates for other Microsoft products and the defender update is installing and Windows 10 Insider Preview 14376 is there as well. Finally, yeah!!

Preparing to install @ 25%. Same old same old. Will probably need to do a clean install from one of the VMs. Not sure whether to bother although I can test on a VM.

Geeks, I thought this might interest some of you now when the free upgrade period is coming to its end.

I made a test with a laptop which originally had Windows 8.1 Pro, upgraded it to Windows 10 Pro and of course it was activated. Went on, wiped the HDD and clean installed Windows 10 Home activating it with a genuine product key. One more clean install, this time Windows 10 Education, activated with a genuine (MSDN) product key.

All above (Home, Pro, Education) were TH2 version 1511. Continued playing, have since that done three more clean installs, one for each 14371 Home, Pro and Education Insider builds. All appear activated, on the same machine.

I don't know how practical this trivial piece of information is but it seems that one single PC can have several digital entitlements, and in the future I can when reinstalling freely choose the edition because all of them will be activated.

Decided to do one more test, installed Home, Pro and Education build 14371 without a product key to three separate Hyper-V virtual machines. Naturally none of these three was activated. Mounted all three virtual machines as native boot VHDs adding them to host boot menu. A native VHD boot with any of these three VHDs containing a non-activated Windows, it is and will be activated based on host digital entitlement.

    Very interesting...

I assume that these VHDs, if returned to their Virtual Machine environment, will retain their Digital Entitlement under the present state of play? - and if the VHDs transferred to other Physical machines but running as VMs will continue to be activated?

The EULA has subtly changed for (Insider) evaluations at some time since 10586 (1511) (I don't know when - does anyone?) to change the contents of clause 2.a.:

    "2. Installation and Use Rights.
    a. License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install and run one instance of the software on your device (the licensed device), for use by one person at a time, so long as you comply with all the terms of this agreement. Updating or upgrading from non-genuine software with software from Microsoft or authorized sources does not make your original version or the updated/upgraded version genuine, and in that situation, you do not have a license to use the software."

    "2. Installation and Use Rights.
    a. License. The software is licensed, not sold. Under this agreement, we grant you the right to install the software on your device (the licensed device), up to the software’s expiration date, so long as you comply with all the terms of this agreement. Updating or upgrading from non-genuine software with software from Microsoft or authorized sources does not make your original version or the updated/upgraded version genuine, and in that situation, you do not have a license to use the software."

...so, by the absence of "one instance", it's implied that it is OK to run multiple instances of Windows 10 on a single machine for evaluation purposes, it seems.

No, of course not. When booted back to host OS and virtual machines run, the activation tells that Windows is not activated because the digital entitlement does not match current hardware.

Same when the VHD is copied to another PC; even in native boot it will not be activated with the same activation error as told above if the host machine has no digital entitlement for that edition.

Completely within and in accordance to EULA.
