Being aware that criticizing various comments creates bad feelings among members, decided to ignore responding on the subject "system restore disabled by default". that is until Kari,s post ....but this is a BETA.....that in itself suggests this is not the finished O/S.....that perhaps it will be enabled in the final product.
Which means we won't be testing it as far as I can see.

It's not a fuss just a discussion. This laptop I'm upgrading has an AMD CPU so I expect it to take some time. Will be interesting to see that if you have SR on before upgrading and turns out as off afterwards and vice versa.
Hmmm, Fabler, both my desktop and laptop have AMD CPUs and it didn't take long at all for this desktop to update.

I believe mine has always been on when the update started and off when it finished.

And yeah, we're real civilized in TF, so I consider it a discussion.

Never been toggled to the slow ring. Still waiting for this AMD disaster duo core laptop to upgrade. If the bloody fan doesn't slow down I fear it will fly out the window.
Of course it may not be the only reason, the main reason you'll be toggled to the Slow Ring is if you do a clean install. Without fail, every time I've clean installed a new Build of Windows 10, I've been set back to the Slow Ring.

I have always had good luck without issues on previous builds, but this one 14372 has not been cooperating with my system so far. I may have set a record today doing feedback's to MS with things that do not work. Just a few and namely links in the setup screens that do nothing and when they give you an option to "learn more" it takes you to Ms.com and that is it.

Don't know if it is the build or not, probably not, but my 2gb data drive keeps telling me that the recycle bin is corrupted. It checks fine with check disk etc. Just MHO

I do have to report that there are no issues for me with this build. The only thing I had to re-adjust my audio settings, re-add some of my context menu entries and that's it.

And I made the ISO from the ESD without a single issue.

You are supporting 20 computers all running Insider Previews? This is beta software - if you are supporting production machines, you should be using main channel. But you knew that.
Linw knows his business, so I would expect that those computers he supports are owned by individuals and are not production machines. In fact, I think I remember that the clarified that sometime back. But I could be wrong.

    Lin? :)

But the dreaded system restore is always switched on in my case? So what's happening here? I don't want it and those that do don't get it, get It?

I know, I know! <jumps up and down and raises hand in air>

If Restore is on, it gets turned off! If Restore is off, it gets turned on!

Seriously, there is no understanding what Microsoft will do with each new Build.

I have "Show hidden files and folders" turned on in my system. When I first started as an Insider, I had to go in and change that; however, at some point, I didn't have to do that any more. Even with a clean install, Show hidden files and folders is always turned on for me. Go figure. :)

    CPU should be APU.

Running both older laptops on SSD, hiberfil.sys off, SR off, before update/upgrade, always returns SR as on.

I'll never buy a laptop again with an AMD "APU".

As System Restore has been running without problems on all versions of Windows 10 build 1511 for two years now, does it need testing?
